A short OKW trip report for hubby...

DH got back from OKW last Thursday night. He went with his Dad for a Braves spring training trip. Neither of us have ever stayed at OKW before and he was pleased. Said it was very nice. Room was in great shape, no problems with mousekeeping either. They had a smoking studio, room 1210. Said it looked right over the golf course, hole number 8. Also, couldn't get much closer to the Hospitality House if they had tried. Got lots and lots of welcome homes, too. Thought the resort was BIG... And that I would like it and it would be great for the kids once that slide is put in! (Seems like with that big of a resort though you would really want to be near the front.) FIL was impressed with our DVC purchase, although we own at BCV.

Ate at Olivia's and Fulton's and never used their DVC discount!
Bill was around $150 at Fulton's for the two of them and they never bothered to pull out their DVC cards! Geez...
I'm trying to think of other places they ate... ESPN, Canada, Boma. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

They had fun at the two games they went to. Got to each about two hours early and hubby was able to get a ton of autographs!
Slipped out early one game and had dinner at All-Stars Cafe.

They tried out DisneyQuest and had a blast! Definitely sounded like a teenage boy's dream! DH felt sick after doing the simulated roller coaster there, but thought Mission Space was a piece of cake. Thought I could ride it, NO WAY!!!

Thought WDW looked pretty clean (A worry of mine.), only area that was really bad he said was near PI. Said the water was filled with a ton of trash. I'm sure that area is hard to keep clean, though. Few lines, weather was great, except one night they froze to death. MK was the only park they had problems with lines, a complete nightmare I was told.

He brought us back a bunch of goodies, myself a cool DVC hooded jacket and an OKW T-shirt that is too small. (At least he didn't bring me back one too big! LOL I guess he thinks I'm smaller than I am, good thing. ) Found the Cricket DVC pin after looking all week, but never scored the Tink one for me. (Thanks to ebay, though I will have it any day!) Did buy me a new pin folder, but when I opened it up it was all wet! I laid it out to dry and it is all warped and water marked now. I wonder if I can return it in June? (I still have receipt.) Nothing else in his suitcase was wet. Very odd. Kinda grossed us out!

He sent home a postcard from Mickey to the girls telling them he heard we were coming in June. That was pretty cute of hubby.

It appears second DVC trip was a success.

Sounds like you have a pretty thoughtful husband and he is a good son too! My husband would never think of checking a discount and you would think he has learned something from me after all these years-----husbands, you know! Glad they had a good time.

I actually prefer staying more in the middle/back of the resort. I like the views better in Turtle Pond and South Point. We never feel that far removed from anything.
Glad your dh and fil had a nice time at OKW. But I can't believe they didn't use their DVC discounts---guess they forgot about that perk ? I'm sure you won't let him forget in June

Keep your receipt, the return will not be a problem.

Shan, how did all that stuff get wet? Yes, you can return the folder. Also, what OKW shirt did he get you? The blue one with the lighthouse? If it is too small, take that back too! I got that shirt when we went. The anniversary trip sounds nice. Does he know about this one? I tried to pull one of those 4 dayers off on mine (10th anniv. trip) about 3 years ago and he WOULD NOT go without the kids. Needless to say, the Fri-Mon trip turned into a trip for 4 that went Mon-Sat. I was soooo mad about that. We did the ESPN Cafe, too. That was one of our favorite places to eat. DH and DD loved the hot wings!!!! We said they were chickens on steroids because they were so big!!!

Hang on before you pay e-Bay prices for Tink. She is not a Limited Edition like Jiminy and will be back in stock. I was told she will be back in stock in May.

I definately agree with this statement! We have stayed all over OKW, and our favorite is South Point followed by Miller's Road (as long as we don't have anyone staying in the LR).

I don't know how it got wet. It was kinda gross! I opened up the plastic covering and all the pages were soaked. We don't have a clue, nothing else in his suitcase was wet. Maybe someone spilled something on the shelf it was on, I dunno!

No, he got me a different T-shirt. I'm not crazy about it, but I love the hooded fleece jacket he got me. Maybe I will exchange the T-shirt, too. Still have receipt for it and tags are still on it.

He knows about the anniversary trip. We need a break from the kids. I haven't ever been away from both of them before. A short quick trip will be nice. I'm sure I'll feel guilty, but it will be nice not pushing a stroller around and being able to ride some of the thrill rides! Plus, I'm actually looking forward to the long QUIET drive down! LOL Funny what things you learn to appreciate once you have kids! We always stay off property the first night we get in. I think I am going to surprise him and book onsite instead. Haven't decided where yet.

RweTHEREyet, I already bought the Tink pin on ebay! I thought I had got a deal - $9.99 plus $1.50 shipping. I thought the Tink pin was also $10.50 like the Cricket pin. Turns out I was wrong. I'll probably see a million Tink pins come our June trip. Oh well! LOL

Diane, it gets worse. FIL got four seats of season tickets to the Braves this year. I guess I'll never see hubby now... Hopefully, they won't go into the playoffs! (I could get shot for saying that - SHHH!!!)

Anyone have pics of the Turtle Pond area? So there is a snack bar over in that area, too?

Has your husband been secretly watching "What Not To Wear"? In just about every episode they're always pouring someone into clothes that are too small. Maybe he's just trying to "update" your wardrobe!

senecabeach, he got the jacket at OKW. I'm sure all the other DVC resorts would have one in their store? Anyone? It is just a casual zip up front with hood, blue with the DVC logo on back. Kinda like jacket that would go to warm up pants. I think he said it was around 40 something?
