in my household. Anyway, for the last couple of decades every morning I open a can of peaches, eat half the peaches, right out of the can. Then I put this can cover on, that way they will not spill in the fridge. Right before I go to bed, I eat the rest of the peaches, right out of the can.

:confused3 Now the DH says, I am slowly poisoning myself, that the blahblahblah head of refrigiration storage says this is not safe:confused3 I mean, HELLLOO! I have been doing this for decades!! There is nothing wrong with me!

:confused3 I know I am not the only one who does this.:confused3

Yes, technically, you're not supposed to eat out of a container, put it away and eat out of it again. I do it all the time though. I even did it with baby formula. :rolleyes1

I have heard something about leaving things in opened cans but I can't remember what it was.

Anyway, I'm a real freak about such things but I would do what you are doing, no problem. It's such a short amount of time.

I never store open cans in the refrigerator.

Here is what I just googled from a food safety fact sheet:

Do not store opened foods in cans as tin and iron will dissolve into the food spoiling the flavour. High levels of tin may make you sick.

Yea, I do the same thing. I'm looney enough as it is. Can't take any chances.

I learned, in 7th grade Home Ec of all places, that putting cans in the fridge could cause botulism to form in the can.

Don't know if it's true, but since then, I've never put cans in the fridge - I'm probably being a paranoid dork.;)

Call me paranoid too. Once I open a can, I have to store the food in another container. Even though I can't remember where I heard it, I always thought it would somehow make you sick.

:confused3 And here I thought my DH was the only weird one about this!
