A Sensible Dinner - Pearlieq's Journal

I for one admire your honesty. It is a huge step that you're still here keeping track of everything. We're all cheering for you!! You can do this!

5/31/05

9:00am

--1 light 'n fit w/fiber cup
--1 peanut butter South Beach bar

I've got what I can only describe as a food hangover--I feel nauseated, bloated, sluggish, depressed, ashamed, and discouraged. I'm going to do my best to shake it off and get back to basics today. I'm working upstairs so I'm not near the kitchen and trying to really listen to my body--after yesterday and the day before I'm not sure how much food I really need today.

The one thing I need to make a point of doing is going to Curves. I'm really going to need that this week!

1:40pm

--2 servings turkey sausage
--1 ww english muffin
--1 T lowfat cream cheese
--1 light 'n fit yogurt cup
--1 medium peach
--1 medium tomato

So my workout buddy just wrote and said she won't be coming all week. Bummer. Still, I need to remember that this is my workout and my health and that I need to keep going, with or without her.

Sometimes it feels like my days are just a routine of step, WHACK! step, WHACK!, step... with the WHACK! being me falling face first on the floor. The only thing I've got to go on at the moment is that I'm not ready to give up.

7:30pm

--1 grilled chicken wrap
--1 order sugar snap peas
--1/2 serving white chicken chili.

A yummy, and very filling dinner at Ruby Tuesdays! I did make it to Curves, but only got a little more than 2 circuits done because I needed to jet for the mall. We walked around for a little while and then DH met me at the restaurant. It was a fun night--I'm done eating and ready to turn in pretty soon.

Good morning Pearlieq! :sunny:

I really hate the "food hangover". Funny, we never noticed it much before or we welcomed it for one reason or another, but now that we are on the path to health, we think "how could I have lived with this for so long?" You are doing the right thing today by moving forward and keeping temptation at bay. Whatever it takes to get back on the losing track.

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hey, Pearliq, you're still doing AWESOME!!!

You ate a bit more than you wanted, but you are stopping it where it started and not continuing day after day.

Your motivation will see you through. Hang in there!

Hi Pearlique,

Weekends are tough. You are out of your routine, and that makes it easier to overeat, but you didn't binge. That is a huge victory. You have a handle on things today, which is another victory. Have a great workout.
Beth

I'm sorry the weekend was rough. Good for you for getting back on track. Curves should go a long way to making you feel better! Good luck!

6/1/05 - Happy June!

9:30am

--1 Light 'n Fit w/ Fiber cup
--1 South Beach bar
--1 meduim nectarine

I didn't sleep too well last night, so I was moving very slow and barely dragged myself out of bed. For some reason in the last few months laying on my side seems to cut off circulation around my hips, which is a problem since I'm a side sleeper. It made for a rather uncomfortable night last night. Still at least I'm up and feeling pretty good today.

2:20pm

--2 small wheat rolls
--1 harvest burger
--1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
--2 T pizza sauce
--1 apple
--1/3 cucumber
--1 sf pudding

It was not supposed to be this long before I ate, but I'm swamped in work today. At least it's yogurt--I can deal with staring at yogurt all day. I'm going to try my darndest to get to Curves, even if I have to come home and log back in afterwards. I really don't want to miss my workout.

7:00pm

--1 Country Club, no mayo
--1 apple

Well, no Curves for me today. I probably could have made it, but I was on a roll with my work project and just wanted it DONE. It's so nice not to have that hanging over my head anymore. I did take a 5 minute break on our eliptical trainer and I'm going to head outside here to see about finishing the rocking.

Good Afternoon, Pearlieq! :flower:

Looks like you have done well with getting back on track. I understand about the circulation problem and sleep. It seems that I have been having a problem with that as well, but mainly in my upper thighs when I sleep on my side. I don't mind sleeping on my back, but I would rather sleep on my side so that I can't hear DH snore so much. ;)

Have a wonderful day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hey! Sounds like you had a good day! Congrats getting your project done. And congrats for getting back on track...we forget what a huge step that is sometimes. Remember all those times before when we would slide....and then just keep sliding, and sliding for months? You're doing great! :)

I'm glad you were able to finish the work project. It's always a huge load to get stuff off your back. Your food looks great too! Enjoy finishing that rocking!

6/2/05

8:00am

--1 ww english muffin
--1 T light cream cheese
--1 light string cheese
--1 medium apple

Another achy morning--I got up mostly when it was too uncomfortable to stay in bed. At least I'm not feeling too groggy. I think we need a new bed, but I don't even want to think about paying for it.

I'm just so eternally glad that project is done--I've still got things to do, but it's not hanging over my head like a big black cloud!

2:00pm

--1 harvest burger
--1/4 cup 2% mozzarella cheese
--2 T pizza sauce
--2 small wheat rolls
--1 light 'n fit smoothie
--1/3 cucumber

Well, I haven't gotten much work done today. I'm still pretty fried from yesterday. Still, I did get a walk this morning and some personal errands taken care of, so I'm happy with it. I'm stuck with the last 2 smoothies, here. DH has decided he doesn't like them because they have "chunky" strawberries. Whatever...

7:15pm

--2 cups cooked broccoli
--3/4 cup beef
--1/2 cup chicken
--Chinese gravy/sauce on all--maybe 1/2 - 1 cup?
--1 fortune cookie

Very tasty dinner, but of course I'm starving agian. I'm going to have an sf pudding tonight before bed, otherwise I'll never be able to sleep!

10:00pm

--1 kozy shack sf pudding

hang in there Pearlieq...hopefully now that you're up and attem this morning...you'll have a SUPER GREAT day! Just keep on, keepin on! :teeth:

Good morning Pearlieq! :sunny:

Looks like you had a great day yesterday. I love it when I am so busy that I can finish up projects and eat very little. Makes you feel good.

Hope you have an AWESOME day and can get your landscaping finished. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Keep on keeping on. Have a great day!

Good morning Pearlieq! :cheer2:

Looks like you had a good day yesterday and I really don't blame you for wanting to take a break from work after finishing your project.

Hope your day goes well today. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

6/3/05

8:30am

--3/4 cup leftover chicken breast in Chinese gravy
--1 light 'n fit yogurt cup

This is going to be something of a busy day. Garage sale tomorrow which means I need to get everything together and priced so we can go set up the tables at my friend's house tonight. I also need to get to the grocery store and I need to by kitty food, which of course is only sold at 2 stores, but luckily one of them is right next to the grocery store. I'm still going to try to fit in Curves tonight and then again at 7:00am tomorrow morning. Yikes!!!

1:45pm

--1 LC peanut chicken
--1/2 cup peas
--1 WW bagel
--1 T light cream cheese
--1 medium peach
--1/3 cucumber

Has anyone made yogurt cheese? I'm not sure how to count the calories for it--does the whey that drains off have any calories or is it just water?

This morning was pretty good. I haven't gotten too much work done but at least I did get to the pet store and the grocery store. I need to work for a little bit here and then start getting the garage sale stuff ready. I'm going to head to Curves around 5ish, then run home to get cleaned up and changed before going over to set up for the garage sale. Honestly I'm a little nervous about the sale, mostly for the people we're selling with. I'm just not sure how focused/serious they're going to be. I don't mind setting up tonight, but I don't want to be there until midnight, especially since I'm going to go to Curves at 7am tomorrow. The woman is kind of chatty, and I don't want to lose hours looking around the house, playing with the dog, and gabbing. Hopefully if DH and I stay focused they'll stay on the ball too!

8:45pm

--1/2 large cheese pizza, minus 2 pieces
--2 pieces bacon/sausage/onion pizza

OK, I waited waaaay too long to eat tonight. I should never have eaten half--I was content about 5 pieces before I stopped eating. I mostly ate it because it was in front of me and I didn't want their dog to get into it and I was too lazy to go take my plate back into the kitchen. What a horrible reason to eat! The only thing that makes this a little better is that I didn't eat much during the day, so this puts my calories just a skosh over 2100 for the day, which is within range for me. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good day. I'm going to have my regular breakfast before I leave the house and then run to Panera for a salad for lunch. We'll find something decent for dinner, I'm sure. I did buy a Snickers tonight, but I'm just feeling too bloated and icky from the pizza to enjoy it. Maybe tomorrow.

Hi pearlieq! :wave2:

Sending some :wizard: for a wonderful garage sale tomorrow! We're having one next week and we're going to put the money in our Disney account. :teeth:

Have a great day today! :flower:

6/4/05 - Weigh In

320.5 - down 2.5 pounds from last week

OK, I'm a little ticked at myself because I was down to 319.5 Friday morning, but then I went and ate a bunch of salty greasy pizza. It shouldn't have caused me to actually gain weight, but I was still full of it and all the salt when I weighed in this morning. Oh well...

Daily Averages:

Total Calories: 2354
Total Fat: 83g
Total Carbs: 281g
Total Fiber: 41g :cool1:
Total Protein: 136g
Total Calories Burned: 3968
Days of Exercise: 3

Goals for next week:

1.) Keep calorie count in range (1600-2200) per day average. I did really well toward the end of the week but I had some truly rotten days earlier that I just couldn't balance out.
2.) Go to Curves or do some equivalent exercise 5 times next week. Between work and the garage sale I didn't have much time to work out. I was, however, pretty active all week.

6/4/05

8:15am

--1 light 'n fit yogurt cup
--1 South Beach bar

11:30am

--1 largeish peach

12:30

--2 McD's cheeseburgers
--1/3 medium fries

I was ready to pass out from hunger by the time my friend's husband got back with the food! I was originally going to get the combo, but DH and I decided to share the fries. I didn't have too many. This was good, and at least it stayed with me for a while!

The garage sale was pretty fun. We were only able to do it today as we're going with my mom to her cancer survivor's event tomorrow, but there's just something so cool about hanging out with your friends while people come and give you money for stuff that had been cluttering up your house! Traffic was pretty good in the morning, then we got a quick but powerful thunderstorm that pretty much cleared everyone out. Still, we sold more than half of what we brought, so it was great fot us! Our friend was kind enough to offer to put out our table tomorrow, so hopefully we'll clear out a little more.

6:30pm

--1/2 cup cream of potato soup topped with shredded cheese and bacon pieces
--1/2 chicken tender wrap, less about 1/2 of the tortilla
--5 oz chicken breast, skinless
--1/2 cup broccoli
--1/2 order french fries

OK, so I decided I wanted to go to Bennigans because I wanted a hamburger and french fries. I had an attack of conscience when I got there, so I ate...this. It was OK, but not very satisfying because it really wasn't what I wanted. The irony is that I could have had a regular cheeseburger for not that many more calories. I'm feeling really good this week. I have a lot stronger control, which was just complete absent last week during TOM time.

Tomorrow should be a nice day. The hospital where my mom had her cancer treatment rented out the nearby zoo and is having an event for all of their survivors. It's a really nice time, and should be great exercise as I'll be pushing her around the zoo. I'm really looking forward to it!

7:45pm

--1 Snickers bar

Left over from last night. Oh my goodness that was good!

Congrats on the 2.5 pounds down from last week! You're doing great, pearlieq!!! Keep up the good work!!! :cheer2:

Congrats on your garage sale! I hope you make even more money tomorrow! :teeth:

Take care and have a great weekend! :flower:
