A Salute to Food & Wine but Mostly Wine..12/21 FINAL THOUGHTS...a Solo Trip Adventure

The Tangerine Daiquiri is on my list. And if it tastes anything like the Tangerine Kaki Gori in Japan, I'll be in heaven!

Hello :wave2: Just found your PTR. My trip overlaps yours by a few days. DH, DS, and I will be at Pop from 10/26 - 11/01. We are also planning on going to AK on 10/26 and EP on 10/27. We are doing the MNSSHP on 10/28. Maybe we'll see you around! I'll be the 32 year old woman with a ponytail and braces dragging around a grumpy DH and an excited 12 year old DS also with braces. This is our second trip and first MNSSHP and I can't wait! :cool1:

:rotfl: Hi! I will happily keep an eye out for you! I hope we run into eachother! You'll have to tell me what you think of Pop as I'm considering that for an impromptu Dec trip that is currently rolling around in my brain.

I found this somehwere and saved it... looking at it now I may have to photo shop my own changes in and check off the stuff as I try it....

That is awesome, Kat! If you update it, please share!! :goodvibes

Oh no you didn't! :headache: Did you just add another drink to my list?? ;) :rotfl:

Haha!! No...Kaki Gori is the snow cone like thing from Japan. They have a Tangerine Flavor that I Loooooove and I think it would be exceptional in Daiquiri form :)

Alrighty, I have caught up and have a strange hankering from a cold adult beverage...hmmm I wonder why? ;)

Great plans so far, I am very jealous that you may be going in December too!

That drink chart is VERY cool!

And you've inspired me to put chapter links in my own PTR.

LOVE the pics!! I want a Glo-tini and a Lapu-Lapu!

Another Sam the Eagle fan! I love the Muppets!

Welcome! Thanks for joining!!

I could do with a glo-tini or lapu lapu this evening myself. I know the recipies are online but somehow it's just not the same when I have to mix it myself. :confused3

As you know, I recently gave in to fuzzy Disney math, dreams of return trips, and anxiety about increasing ticket prices and purchased an Annual Pass! Ever since I clicked "purchase" I've been thinking about ways I can maximize the pass. A quick trip in December, a trip for Flower and Garden, last minute weekend trips with a good Southwest "ding" rate, another trip back for Food & Wine in 2009 just before it expires... :cloud9:

So the pass arrived today. I ripped into the envelope to find...

Not exactly what I was expecting. I was thinking Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pooh, heck even Stitch might have made the journey to celebrate my purchase. Oh well. It's still an annual pass! :woohoo: And I do like that the clock doesn't start ticking on my year until I activate it once I get to WDW.

Now I've got to do more fuzzy Disney math and see about the Dining Experience card!

Don't be disappointed! It's an annual pass! Think of all the fun you hold in your hand!! Congratulations!

Very cool! Think of how fun it will be to turn that baby in!

Has anyone else seen the threads on the restaurants board and other places about filets being taken off the menus? :scared1: Hopefully this is just a little well-intentioned DIS boards hysteria and not actually true. Although posters allege that restaurants including Kona (!) have confirmed. I was really looking forward to a filet w/ cream cheese mashed potatoes at Le Cellier. Just in case, I'll send up a prayer to the dining gods...:worship: :worship: :worship:

I'm not sure it's just DIS hype like most things are. This was also mentioned on the DIS Unplugged Podcast and one of the DIS "insiders" was sent to check out the menus at Guest Services and reported that only a few Filets remain. It's sad...especially since the Filet was the only thing I would eat at a lot of restaurants.

I’m in a Disney mood today (and this is different from other days how???) and thought I’d take a look back on previous trips (while simultaneously avoiding all of the cleaning and laundry that needs to be done :thumbsup2 ).

Disneyland 2007

Last year I had to go out to Los Angeles for work for a few days. A former employee was suing us and I got to testify. :headache: I was dreading it. Until, one day, it occurred to me, “I wonder how far DL is from LA?” No, geography is not my forte!! :sad2: Well, my goodness, it’s only ~30 min away and so I was on my way…

Disneyland Hotel. I was surprised by how "in the middle of things" Disneyland is. The difference between staying on property or off is ~ 5 min walk! But still it was on property for me!

The room furniture was so cute!

My room overlooked Downtown Disney.

I had only a half-day so I had to get cracking. It was weird but kinda nice to walk through Downtown Disney to get to the gate. A familiar sight:

It feels like home!

And look who was there to say hello.

And there’s The Emporium, right where it’s supposed to be.

I hadn’t really done too much research on DL (gasp!). It was spur of the moment and I just went with it (SO unlike me). I “knew” that the castle was different and smaller…

Still I was surprised. I don’t want to say I was disappointed but Cinderella appears to have gotten a better deal than Sleeping Beauty! BUT knowing that Walt himself had been there, it was pretty darn special!!! :goodvibes

Off to Adventureland…

Lots of familiar friends.

Hey, did Tarzan evict the Swiss Family Robinson??

DSCF1288.jpg

The Original Tiki Room. I’d forgotten how fun it was. And on an incredibly hot day with a Dole Whip in hand it was heaven!! :cloud9:

Pirates. AMAZING. Sorry, no photos, but I loved it. The Blue Bayou looks so cool. I want to go back there just to eat in this restaurant. The food I’ve heard is just so-so but the atmosphere is awesome!!! Like the restaurant in Mexico overlooking that boatride but PIRATES! :thumbsup2

Indiana Jones. Also awesome. And again no pictures; I hadn’t fully embraced my Disney geek at the time. ;) Same ride track as Dinosaur in AK but not as loud and without that horribly scary dino at the end.

Haunted Mansion. Very different look to it on the outside. I'm not sure but I think this visit was before the latest round of updates. So I'm looking forward to seeing those for the first time in WDW this fall.

For such a “small” park, I have to say I got lost A LOT. It has lots of nooks and crannies and dead ends.

Weird to see Star Tours in Tomorrowland but it fits.

The subs! I didn’t get to ride them as it was still new at the time and the wait was 3 hours!!

DSCF1298.jpg

The fireworks were terrific! They included Star Wars and Indiana Jones music since those attractions are in the park. I have to see if I can find the soundtrack online somewhere!

I’m so glad I got to see Disneyland; I loved it. It was so different but with many of the things I love still mixed in. Now I have to visit Paris, Tokyo, and Hong Kong to see how they compare… :rolleyes1

I love, love, love all of your pictures of Disneyland! I was about five the last time I was there so it is hard for me to differentiate memories of it from memories I have of WDW. I do remember riding the Matterhorn though and the storybook ride. I so want to stay at the Disneyland hotel sometime! It looks so neat to me! Thanks for sharing all those great pictures with us!

I loved your DL pics!! I've never been there, but I'm planning to eventually. DD7 wants to go. I told my kids that when they turn 13 they can pick a vacation destination... DD7 says DL is her pick! DD9 has more ambition...she wants to go to France...so DL Paris will probably come b4 DL california!:lmao:

Now I've got to do more fuzzy Disney math and see about the Dining Experience card!

Just do it! :thumbsup2

I loved your photos of DL! :goodvibes My cousin works there but since real estate is so expensive, and he's so thrifty, he lives in a box that has no guest room. ;)

ooo those drinks make me want to go to the liquor store and attempt to recreate them lol !!!! great ptr!
