I am the oldest of 6, I have 4 brothers. 36 years ago today my only sister died, she was 7 and I was 12. I have always wondered how it would be to have a sister as I got older. Sometimes I miss what I never had.

This is also the first Christmas without my mom, and as hard as it has been I always think of her and how she always made sure the rest of us had Christmas no matter how hard it was for her.

I like to think that after all these years they are together this Christmas.

I wish you the strength to get through a rough day and to be able to celebrate in their memory. Have a very Merry Christmas

My thoughts are with you today and tomorrow. I am sure that your mom and sister are together again and watching over you. I hope that you find the strength you need this holiday season.

I am sure they are together at last. And, I am sure they want nothing more than for you to celebrate this Christmas season with your usual flair. I know it is difficult. I am without my mom this year too. I was really struggling, but yesterday I decided that my mom would want us all to enjoy the season and cherish the memories--but not mope around in the name of missing her. :goodvibes

:grouphug: Just be good to yourself through the holiday season. It does get softer with time. Take comfort in your memories.

Oh my i'm sorry.... peace to you this Christmas Eve.

They are together, Carrie, and they are with you and your family still also.

Carrie - your post was so touching. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother this year and the loss long ago of your only sister. I can't imagine losing a sibling at such a young age, how heartbreaking.

I lost my mom a little over 2 years ago and it does get a little easier each year around the holidays, but you always feel that void. I'm sure you understand after losing a sibling so many years ago.

Sorry for rambling, but I wish you a Merry Christmas and i'll be thinking about you.

Carrie, hope you were able to enjoy the day with good thoughts of your mom and sister together. :grouphug:

Thank you for all your kind thoughts. The day was pretty good, we went to my MIL's then later over to my DD Amy's. My DGD Katelyn can keep anyone going.

Right now I am getting ready to go to work, yes it is 3:30 am here in Chicago. At least I will be home by noon. :)
