Today is a day of mourning. That blue beast returned on Friday.

It been 2 years since I've seen him ( Great Blue Heron) My fish were happily swimming in their little pond eating bugs and playing tag. I've nursed then from tiny little goldfish. Some had grown to 7 inches.

I don't know if any survived, there hiding under pots, if they did they will not come to the surface.

My heart is breaking to be swallowed alive by the blue beast. All the new babies, and the Mama's and the Papa's.

I don't think I'm going to replace them. It's too tramatic when you lose them. Think I'll just grow waterplants.

So sad to hear of your loss. It's so hard after all that time. Tragic.

Last month I lost all of my goldfish. They had been with me for a few years. They too started out as tiny little feeder fish. I don't know what happened, maybe it's best I not know. If I thought a big blue meanie got them I think I would shaken too. Maybe time will heal. Water plants are nice but fish are so much better to watch.

That's awful Mamu! So sorry, and after some getting to be that long. I hope some survived.

although not a Big Blue Meanie but a Masked Marauder!

I have had to put netting over the pond and this seems to help although not pretty it does save my fish and plants from tiny fingers.

Sorry about your fish....

Thank you all. Yesterday was a warm day here in Mass one of the few. Dug out a pair of shorts, they have not been the clothing of choice lately.

With my net, pump and lots of tubs. Drained the pond. This is a chore that needed to be done, but the weather has not co-operated. Todays the day this disgusting water goes.

After removing half the water, it's time to get into the smelly pond and remove the plants. Plants removed, there's something here under the pots in the mucky-muck, 6 little fish that have survived the attack of the blue beast. With net in hand I carefully remove them into a holding tank. Talking softly to them as I net them up "OK baby, your going to be fine Mama's going to take care of you".

Clean the pond, re-pot and fertilize the plants, add new water. Now to re-orientate the fish to their home.

This is not good, this water is too clean. One trip over the house the eating machine will spot these little orange guys. I dig out the plant stakes and some fishing line (no I'm not going fishing) I'm trying to stop the fishing in my pond. I strategically place the stakes around the pond, now weave the fishing line over, around, in and out forming a grid. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

 Hi, little fishies!!!

I'm so glad some of your babies made it. I wish them the best of luck!

Good idea. With the line over it you can still get in there but he won't be able to.
Good luck fishies

Oh I was so sorry to read this post. But I am glad that you found some saved themselves. Hope your grid works!
