A sad day for me...

My Grandma passed away this morning.
She was 95!!
She had been poorly a while so I am happy she is free from pain, but I will miss her so much.
Hope you dont mind me posting this...just feels a relief to tell someone.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. It's never easy, even when you know she is 100% happy now, in heaven, full of life and vigor like she used to be. It's not easy on the ones who love her that are left behind.
Like all the greeting cards say, I hope your memories of her will see you through this difficult time. But it's true. Make a collage of all of your photos of her, or a little scrapbook or something. We did this for my Grandma's funeral and everyone loved looking over her life like that. Celebrating, really, rather than mourning.

Here's the poem we handed out at my Grandmother's funeral, she was 95 also, I know how much you'll miss her.

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears
Be thankful for our many beautiful years.

I gave you my love. You can only guess

But now it’s time for me to travel on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It’s only for a time that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.

And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I lost my mom last year 4 months before our wedding and my grandma passed in 2001. It's never easy and time does help but I still grieve my mom daily and I miss my grandma, so I know what you are going through. This poem was given to me by an old friend when my mom passed. It makes me cry sometimes, but it also helps:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
