Hi Everyone-

I just booked stateroom 6002 for the 10/2/04 Eastern Magic sailing. It's a Catagory 11, but when I looked at the deck plan, it appears to be an outside. It looks like it might have an obstructed view of some sort, but having never sailed on DCL, I don't know. Not getting my hopes up, but does anyone out there know for sure??

Thanks,
Solotravler

WOW! That's great! solotraveler, if you think of it, take a picture of the view you have and post it! I'd love to see it!

HAVE FUN!

6002 does not have porthole....It is not a secret porthole room.
From Passporter page 69, "Staterooms 6002, 6004, 6502 and 6504 are on the ship's outer side, but have no portholes.
Nowhere is my copy of Passporter does it say there is a secret porthole in 6002.
I have sailed in 5524 a SPR , and next cruise will be in 7120 another "secret" verandah room. I love those "secret" rooms.

Huh? All of us who have been around this board for any length of time know about the six category 10 secret porthole rooms -- 5020, 5022, 5024, 5520, 5522, and 5524.

But this is the first that I've heard that 6002 is a category 11 super-duper secret porthole room. Presumably, 6502 woul then also be a super-duper secret porthole room.

Verandah Man wrote, "According to the PassPorter this is a Cat. 11 with an obstructed view, congratulations!!!" Interesting.

Passporter has had some inaccurate infomation about DCL staterooms, specifically about room capacity. I'm not saying that Passporter is wrong or right about 6002, but I would recommend waiting for a confirmation from another source before getting too excited.

Horace Horsecollar have you checked out the deck layout of that cabin? It is exterior, but I haven't heard from anyone here about those four CAT11 outside cabins: 6002, 6004, 6502, & 6504 Hmmmmm, seems like we have mystery on our hands!

Sorry, my mistake, it is a cat 11, but no view, I was looking at the wrong room.

no mystery

If you look at the picture of the ship on the cover of the DCL brochure(I have the 2000-2002 version), you can see where the room is. On deck 6 forward there is 1 porthole which would be room 6000. Then there is a bit of white metal(or whatever) where rooms 6002 and 6004 would be, but inside. Then more portholes which would start up again with room 6006.

We stayed in a cat 11 once and enjoyed it. I wouldnt hesitate to stay in a room without a view again.

7120 "secret Verandah room" Are you talking about the cat 5's and 6's they downgraded to category 7's? Category 7 still has a verandah although a navigators.

Yes, we booked the full verandah cabin 7120, downgraded to cat 7 because of an obstructed view. The four downgraded cabins are 7120, 7620, 6634 and 6134.

Wanted to enjoy a verandah but still wanted to stay within budget for our 7 night cruise.

Ok Andy, squat down and give each Diser 20 push-ups (30 for poor solotraveler)...

I'd be hard pressed to do "ONE" push up, for the total group, and that's no lie, LOL!!!

Michele-
Have you taken your cruise with this stateroom yet? I'm curious as to how "obstructed" the view was and what your opinion of it was. Also need to know whether any of these rooms hold 4, anybody know?

Barb and Tony have pictures of the obstructed views of these staterooms on their website at www.castawayclub.com or http://www.disneycruiser.info/obstruct.htm

Sorry, can't help you with how many people they hold...I don't have my Passporter handy :( (BAD Melody! BAD BAD BAD!!!)
