Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any standard moderate or value hotel rooms that can sleep 6. I was thinking about PO-FQ as I know they have trundel beds.

It would be me,DH & our DD(10) and My BIL, SIL, and their DD(6). Could the 2 girls share a trundel and not kill each other? Or does anyone know if they have connecting rooms in the values?

We are a close family but want to stay that way too.

Thanks Lisa

Actually, it's POR that offers the trundel bed. But even with that I think the maximum room occupancy is still 4 (or 5 if one can sleep in a crib). Even the deluxes have a limit of 5. I think the only way that you can get 6 people would be to rent a villa, otherwise you will need to get to connecting rooms.

The trundles there I have heard are pretty small. Made for 1 small kid. The only resorts I know of that you could sleep 6 would be one of the deluxe resorts that has either 2 queens and a daybed or the queen/bunkbed/daybed rooms and those would be for the 6th person/child to be under 3.
And yes the do have connecting rooms at value, moderate and deluxe resorts. Maybe you could look into renting points from a dvc member--they normally go for about $10 per point--and rent a 2 bedroom.

The WL offers a deluxe room that sleeps 6. The cabins in Ft. Wilderness also sleep 6. However, you will have to pay an additional charge if you have more than 2 adults in the room.

It would probably be less expensive if you get 2 All-Star rooms. The bonus would be also having 2 baths. If you can manage to get connecting rooms, you could go between the rooms from within the rooms and it would seem like one big room.

FW Cabins or a deluxe room at WL are two other options. The cabins are nice because you get a full kitchen and you have a bedroom with a double bed and bunks and a double murphy bed in the living room. The deluxe rooms at WL are about $400.00 a night I think.

Just an opinion from a family of six...we loved the cabins when our four children were small, but prefer connecting rooms now. There is nothing like two bathrooms with that many adults.

During value season, with an AP or code, you can probably get value rooms for $49 or $59 a night.

We tried five in a deluxe room in November and the getting ready process in the morning with two adults and three teens was about 2-1/2 hours...guess who had to get up first!!! Back to connecting rooms at a moderate this year!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I appreciate all the input. I guess your right about the bennefits of the 2 bathrooms.

Connecting it is! I was trying to save us all some cash. But if it isn't comfortable, it isn't worth it!

Thanks Again,
Lisa

If it was one family of 6 - 2 adults & 4 kids I would say go for a cabin, but w/ 2 families I would opt for the 2 connecting rooms which would give you 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's & much more privacy when you need it.

The best value for 6 people is connecting rooms at All Star. That's going to be the cheapest option.

Next would be connecting rooms at a moderate or getting a Wilderness Cabin.

Or, if you really want to splurge, rent points for a 2 bedroom villa! They sleep 8 adults very comfortably. :)

Ooooh - a 2BR villa. :p We just got back from renting points for one. You would love it. Of course, there may be a debate about who would get the master suite w/ the king size bed & jacuzzi bath.

Connecting rooms is your best economy option. Two families in one PO-R room would be AWFUL. I'm pretty flexible (for an overnight we'll throw the sleeping bags in the van and bid on priceline), but I cannot imagine sharing a hotel room (virtually any) with another couple plus two children. We are talking NO PRIVACY unless you're on the john or in the shower. It is hard but not impossible to even get dressed in the tiny bathroom. Disney would not let you do it anyway (fifth person has to be under 9 and a sixth isn't allowed), but after you paid $45 for two extra adult fees and the trundle fee, you would be PAYING MORE than you'll probably pay for connecting rooms.

BTW, those junior suite/deluxe rooms are seriously expensive, as are the villas unless you can rent points. Being a family of five with two teens (essentially four adults and a child), we would love to do that but find them way out of our price range.

we stayed in the All Stars Music first time we went and for the money we were dissapointed with being all in one room with one bathroom very small room indeed I know this is a low budget hotel but the principle is the same for all Hotels. So we chose a villa in the last two years 3 bed with two bathrooms and own pool and this was £1500 cheaper maybe not on site but we could get to disney whenever we wanted.
How lovely it was to have your own rooms, Dining room, Family room & pool side for breakfast No comparison

Hypothetically speaking....what if you rented one of the deluxe resorts and put one child on the floor in a sleeping bag. (2 adults, 4 children).

1)How would they know that you have more than five?

2) What would they do if they realized that you have more than five?

I'm not saying I'm going to do this, but really would like to stay in deluxe resort, and they all are for families of five or less.
Thanks!

momm2four, I'm not 100% sure of this, but on Deb Will's site it says that some of the deluxes fit 5 PLUS 1 under 3 in a crib. If this applies to you, you don't have to worry! Also, kids under 3 get free admission to the parks! 2 good reasons to go when they are little.

IMHO, with that large of a family, you'd be better off at the poly, contemp or GF than at the YC, BC or BWI.

Hope that helps!

If money is a big issue, then I suggest 2 rooms at AS with a code. They have pools, food courts nearby and great theming. Having said that, the six of us (3 adults, 3 kids) stayed one night in AS (2 rooms) and 5 nights in a 2 bedroom villa at Beach Club Villas. We could have saved $500 if we stayed all 6 nights in AS, but the BCV was worth every penny. We had plenty of room so that no one got on each other's nerves, we ate in for Breakfast which saved tons of time. We ate in for other meals which help (a little) to offset the cost of the villa. We had the washer/dryer so we didn't need to pack so much clothing. The bathrooms are soooo spacious compared to AS. Storm Along Bay pool is the best and the kids had the best time burying their dad in the sand. And the proximity to Epcot is less than a 5 minute walk. Truthfully, if we had the opportunity to go back and only could afford AS, we would save the extra cash and go back to the YC/BC area instead. My husband and I were just having this conversation this morning and he agreed we would go back in 2004, but only if it was a 2 bedroom villa again at BCV. Check out the DVC boards...it may be more affordable than you realize.

There are many options for families of 5 or 6. We are a family of 5.

Some of the deluxe resorts will accommodate 5 - both the Contemporary and Beach Club. The CR rooms are much larger & is close to MK. BC rooms are smaller, but the pool is awesome & you are very close to EPCOT & right on the Boardwalk.

There is also the option of staying in the cabins. You are still fairly close to MK. You have your own kitchen, an outdoor deck & a separate bedroom - 1 bath. There is ALOT to do at FW. You can offset the cost by eating some meals in your cabin.

The 2BR villa is a great option. So much room - 2 baths, outdoor patios. Also has the full kitchen to offset meal costs. As was said in a previous post - check the DVC rent/trade board. We rented points from someone w/ no hassle whatsoever & loved every minute of our time at OKW.

We always enjoy ourselves no matter what the accommodations, but having more room in the larger accommodations makes the vacation so much more enjoyable & less stressful.

We did a family trip in September with 7 adults and 1 3 year old. We rented a 2 bedroom villa and a studio. We wanted each couple to have privacy but have the common areas also. We rented points through the DVC rental boards and it was awesome! It cost just over $2000 for 5 nights. If you break it down to the cost per 2 people (3 couples plus my DB and his DD) it was about $100 per couple per day.

My younger DB and his DW, married a year, had the 2nd bedroom, my parents had the king bedroom, 2nd DB had the pullout in the living room with his DD and my DH and I had the studio. This worked well because my younger DB and his wife are night people and had their own entrance so that when they came home from PI at 2:00 am, they did not wake anyone! My DH and I loved our studio and the privacy it afforded, we all used the washer and dryer, and Dad made breakfast for everyone twice! Plus the fridges came in handy for mild, juice, soda, water and beer ;)

Not to mention the great location, food options, boating/walking to MGM and Epcot. I now own BCV points as do my parents! We are going back to WDW in 3 weeks, we each have our own studio and can't wait.

Good luck with your decision on where to stay!

Speaking hypothetically, of course: I don't think someone who put six in a deluxe room would get "caught" and I think it is highly unlikely that anyone would say anything to them. However, everyone doing e night (resort cards are checked) or, perhaps, early entry (resort cards sometimes checked) would not be possible.
