A Ride Chicken’s Everest Review

I think we Ride Chickens should have our own board!! :thumbsup2. I'm going in September and will be so mad at myself if I wimp out of going on this ride. When you are going backwards, is there a big drop as well? I can handle a moderate drop and I don't mind the backwards thing but I think the combo of the two would traumatize me...Oh well, I lived through ToT so I should just try it. :confused3

No there is only one big drop and that is forward. The drops going backward are pretty mild it is just going backward fast up and down little hills.

If you made it through ToT you could definitely handle EE. There is no way this ride chicken would ever get on ToT.

If your son is like mine you will have many years ahead of enjoying Disneyworld with your son. Mine is 27 and for the last 4 years we have come to Disney together. I'm not sure who gets more excited, me or him. They are really fun as adults!! :yay:

I really hope this is DS and I 15 years down the road. Thank you for sharing :goodvibes

Sorry but this ride chicken is afraid of heights, and plans on keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground.

Do you all think dramamine would help? I cannot do teacups or MS. I am fine on RnR and SM but was worried about the backwards portion on EE and thought dramamine might help me!

You have convinced me. I am a big ride chicken also but I do love BTTMR and SM (although I always gasp at the drop). :rotfl: My son just came back from trekking in Nepal and I would love to go on this ride to see some of the props. :scared1: :scared1:

Before I had my children (10 & 8) I could ride anything. Now I get this feeling of not being able to breathe when I get put on any ride. I think it is an anxiety attack. Last time on Test Track I was locked in ready to go and all of a sudden I screamed "Get me off Now!" Its weird. All the rides I use to ride I can't. My heart feels like it wants to stop! I don't know if I will ever get over this. :confused3 My DH and kids want me to ride EE with them in a few days. I don't think I will be able to. :guilty:

Thanks for your report on EE. I have been toying back and forth about going on this and from reading your report I believe I can do it! It is the big drops that kill me and I love Big Thunder Mountain and I will ride on Splash but really do not like that drop at the end. So if you say it isn't as bad as Splash then I believe I will have to give it a try!

Same here! I can do Splash (but I won't do it every trip...hmmmm..it's probably been over 10 years), so if it's not as bad as the drop in Splash, then I can do it.

Thanks OP! :)

What a great description. I too am a ride chicken who is very curious about Expedition Everest. Our family sat for lunch at Flame-Tree BBQ & loved the view of it under construction. The family has varying ride-tolerances (from seemingly fearless to NOTHING) that can make our trip interesting. That's why we love WDW. Something for everyone.

I sure love all the descriptions everyone is giving of their own comfort levels. Figuring out what the ones in my family can & cannot handle has been confusing & interesting
DH :earsboy: did the coasters with seemingly fearless DD2, but later wouldn't repeat certain ones. Won't find him on Tea Cups ever.

DD1 :tink: (a teen at the time) also screamed out loud during the POTC small dark drop. Not a coaster fan.

DD2: princess: Did EVERYTHING she could, but later wouldn't repeat some that I couldn't figure out why for the longest time -- going upside down is fine at ridiculous speeds in dark is fine, but not a fan of the big drops apparently.

DD3 ::MinnieMo will rarely do anything motion involved even with her Dramamine & we work hard trying to convince her milder things are OK. Does not help that early on we said that about Body Wars to her before we all tried it with her :sad2: Lost some credibility with her there!

DD4: :stitch: Fearless when she was too short even to do it all. This has been a prob for DD3 who now has no companion for the kiddie rides so can't go on them at other Parks. Again, why we love WDW. Even the adults are on the kiddie rides. But DD4 did become hysterical in "It's A Bug's Life" at an age that I was truly surprised at her reaction.

and Mom: :earsgirl: LOVES TeaCups, won't go on SplashMtn, or any coasters, but did survive Primeval Whirl 4x in a row for love of DD2. Like many chickens I have done coasters over the years thanks to others pressure, but now feel I am of an age to clearly & firmly say NO THANK YOU.

Your great description of ExpEverest & advice are really going to help us. Mom & DD3 still might not get on it, but I'm sure others will. We have all learned that we are missing out on something if we don't try at Disney. The themings are amazing.

luvthemouse71: Yes, a board for us with detailed descriptions & advice! Great idea! But I gotta say, if you actually went on ToT :scared1: I don't think you qualify! :worship:

Okay, I'm a weirdo ride chicken.

Here's what scares me: THE CLIMB UP THE HILL.

I know it's been said that it is well themed, and thus, less scary...can anyone add to this description.

I don't mind the coming down (especially in the water like Splash Mtn), but it's the going up s-l-o-w-l-y (where you can see over the side) I HATE.

Can anyone advise if this is the case with EE?

I DON'T WANT TO MISS IT, but if it creeps up a hill, I'm history!!! :guilty:

I am a big ride chicken too and im going to disney in August and when I heard about this ride I needed to find more information. For anyone who is completely nervous about this ride, there is a link to the onboard video for EE. If your going to go on EE for the suprise dont watch it, but if your nervous like me then this will be beneficial to you. I cant post url's yet cause i just registered but you can search google videos or the themepark about website and you will find it.
