A Restful Spring Break? - A March/April 2024 Trip Report

I hope everyone enjoyed a the long weekend! I feel like I need another day to recuperate!

We had our long weekend (Victoria Day) the week before you guys and I totally hear you on needing a day to recuperate. I went to Ottawa (Canadian capital city) with my cousins and it was VERY fun but man was I tired going back to work on Tuesday!

Next up were the Dapper Dans.

This reminds me of the dancers from the Main Street Trolley Show. I really want them to bring that back!

The Chickens and the barn were fun but a weird ending to the parade.

They are hilarious!

I love this parade! I can't believe how long it has been around! But I still love it.

It's a great parade!

I mean look at the detail on this guy!!!!

The dragon is the best!

but did finally get to meet Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny last year. I may have cried a little.

Awwww! That's what Disney is all about!

I've been away (we are out of school, so no normal routine!) but finally came back to catch up. I hate watching parades in the hot sun! For that reason, we skip a lot of them. But if we do get to see them, I love to watch other people's reactions, like you mentioned with that woman and Alice! Little bits of magic!

I'll always love the Festival of Fantasy parade. I know some people think it's been around too long, but that Maleficent dragon is the best.

It's my wishes... it can stay around for as long as they want. It def lost a little luster with the reduced amount of people walking. but I still love it.

gh. I guess Disney just kind of threw the spot up wherever the could in order to add more to the Genie selections.

It's been a weird thing, they add it in and take it away. I def think they know they need more options for Genie +. I miss the days of firework spots with Fast Pass. Ahhh free viewing spaces....

So true! Today was an exception for sure! We have watched in Frontierland a few times cause you can get some shade.

I love the parade but it is just at a rough time. We are usually back at the rest at that time.

Thankfully there was a noon parade today! 3:00 gets to be late for us, too.

It's actually a really nice temp today and Andy and I are enjoying some time on our front porch just chilling!

Day Four - Second Park Day - Rest and relaxation

I left us off headed back to the resort from Magic Kingdom. We were on a bus around 12:30 and back in the room in now time.

Andy, Gwen and I went for a quick swim in the pool. The water was cold!

So, Andy said no way to the cold water and just went to the hot tub. Gwen and I braved the lazy river a bit and then wondered over to the sand bottom one for a bit, then joined Andy in the hot tub.

It was a fairly short dip in the pool. We headed back and just rested in the room. While resting I was able to also get Toy Story Mania LL and an Alien Swirling Saucier LL. Millennium Falcon ran out before I could get one.

At some point a CM knocked on our door. (They hadn’t cleaned our room before we got back.) He asked if we needed anything. We said we were checking out tomorrow, and that we just needed towels and toiletries. He came back with a big bag of toiletries… I was a little too excited again at the stash I was accumulating!

We also had to switch hotels tomorrow, so we needed to pack up today. So, Andy and I did a bulk of the packing while we rested in the room.

We finally headed to Beaches and Cream for the second time around 4:40.

By 4:55 we were already sat at the table.

We started with drinks. Andy ordered a Vanilla Diet Coke and the girls both just went with water.

I ordered the Tropical Sunrise Float

It was good, but didn’t LOOK that good. The green in the sherbet kind of made it a weird color as it melted!

By 5:08 our food had already arrived!

Gwen ordered her usual: Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese
with Creamy Tomato Soup

Gwen enjoyed this yet again.

And Morgan went with a bowl of Creamy Tomato Soup.

Last trip, Morgan asked if the bowl would be enough as a meal, and the CM said no, but it def was. The soup is SUPER creamy and heavy. Especially if you want some ice cream as well.

Andy and I split the Cheddar-Bacon-Ranch Chicken Sandwich
with Sautéed Onion, Lettuce, and Tomato on a Multigrain Bun served with French Fries.

We also ordered a side of Onion Rings to all share.

The sandwich was fine. Nothing notable about it, it was a grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken wasn’t dry or anything. Just a standard sandwich.

Andy and I weren’t really feeling a giant dessert, so the girls both ordered something small.

Morgan got a scope of Chocolate Ice Cream in a cone.

Gwen got a Chocolate Milk Shake

The CM was great and gave Gwen a to-go cup for her milk shake to take it to go. And offered something for Morgan’ ice cream, but she didn’t need it.

At some point, we realized that there weren’t alot of Kitchen Sinks being ordered. The other night there was alot, which isn’t surprising, it was still early to be eating a ton of ice cream.

Dinner was fine this evening, Gwen def enjoyed it, but after going twice this trip, this place is def just ok for me. But Gwen was happy. And it was a fairly cheap meal.

We paid the tab and headed out. We were off to Hollywood Studios for the evening!

Haha I’m right with you on accumulating the toiletries. Feel like it brings a wee bit of Disney home for free
We’ve been to beaches and cream a few times and while the food does the job it’s definitely the ice cream that’s the star of the show. It was nice of them to give Gwen a to-go cup.
I do think the whole boardwalk/boat dock area is the prettiest of places.

It doesn't make any sense to me. So many of the Streetmosphere characters have not come back (the Mayor, Citizens of Main Street, Citizens of Hollywood etc. It adds so much to the park experience to have these little extras.

I enjoy Beaches and Cream but I don't know if I could go there twice in a trip.

Man, I love those toiletries. When I was a child my dad always brought tons of them home after our trip (at the time I didn't appreciate it, but now I do!)

I had a Mickey Mouse room when I was little, so sometimes I would just set out little WDW cups or napkins we would bring home. Ha!

Gwen's a girl after my own heart with her love of grilled cheese and tomato soup! It's steamy hot today (we just came in from recess and all the kids are red faced and sweaty!) but it still sounds SO delicious right now!!! LOL

Victoria Day sounds so nice!

Victoria Day is the celebration of the birthday of Queen Victoria who ruled the British Empire from 1837-1901. As Canada is a Commenwealth country we commemorate her birth each year. Although it's not exactly her birthday, just the third Monday in May. It's the official kick off to the summer season with a lot of people camping, opening up cottages, travelling etc. Also known as May 2-4 for the cases of beer consumed, lol!

Seeing those Disney toiletries back home is a sure fire way to bring a smile to my face. I only bring the lotion home, but whenever I use it, it takes me instantly back to WDW.

Oh gosh, you weren't kidding about the color of that drink.

Love your pictures of both parades! Sadly, we missed the Festival of Fantasy parade on our trip - it never worked out with our nap time. Also, I’m sorry it was so hot in your reserved spot!

Right now it's hard to imagine a cold pool, it's just so HOT.

We like Beaches and Cream but once a trip is good for us.

I agree with you about Beaches and Cream. I was so excited to try this place on my last Thanksgiving trip but I walked away feeling...meh. It was fine but I didn't feel the hype.

I have to find time to come and do the next installment of our trip but I wanted to pop in and share some milkshakes Morgan and her friends got this past weekend for her birthday. The whole place put Beaches and Cream to shame! ha!

This one was a Fried Oreo Milkshake. It had fried oreos, mini pancakes, and strawberries on top, with cookies and cream milkshake, in house THICK whipped cream

The front one was a Cookie Monster Milkshake with a donut, a cupcake AND a chocolate chip cookie, with a lollipop and a vanilla milkshake...

And then the one in the back was a Strawberry Cheesecake one, with a piece of cheesecake on top, AND a cupcake and all those gummy strawberries. And the strawberry milkshake was SUPER strawberry!

I got a "regular" butterfinger milkshake. I mean look at the amount of whipped cream!!!

They had a GIANT ice cream sundae you could get for a bargain, $99!!!! It was HUGE!!!

Seemed appropriate since I just talked about Beaches and Cream!
