A reminder that no balloons allowed at AKV

Maybe this has been covered before, but no balloons are allowed in the rooms at AKV. We were not aware of this policy (We took a taxi to Contemporary our first morning for a character breakfast, so we did not see the notice on the sign at the bus-stop) when we returned from a day at MK. A staff member politely but sternly asked my 3 yo and 5 yo to hand-over their new balloons that they got on Main Street earlier that day to put them in "daycare with the bellman" when we entered the lobby. You can imagine how that went over with them (tears) and my wife. Ok, policy is policy and I won't debate the soundness of it and my ignorance of it is no excuse. It just sucked the air out of a great day.

The balloons were $20, then I was out extra chocolate that night to distract them and wine for my wife.

Same thing happened to us a few years ago. They confiscated my 8 y/o GD's. She didn't cry, but she defninitely was not a happy camper. When I explained the balloon might have floated out of the room and out onto the savanna, where some animal could get ahold of it and choke, she felt better about having to lose it. They also don't allow plastic straws for the same reason (danger to the animals).

We also do not allow any balloons in either of the water parks. If one gets deflated and in the water it can clog up a filter which can damage the pumps.

Safety of the animals is so important. I specifically liked the wine for Mom. We all need that after a long day of fun.

We knew of this when we stayed at AKV back in July....which is why we waited untilt he end of our trip to buy a balloon and then put it in the car for two days......even in the FL JUly heat those balloons last.

We bought one when we stayed at SSR back in 2008. That thing stayed boyant for three weeks in our house.
