A really short trip, have you ever?

In 2013 I've done several short trips to WDW just for Disney races. I usually would fly in on Thursday evening and return home on Sunday morning. I really don't spend too much time in the parks because of the race but I do enjoy visiting the resorts. I'll be returning to WDW next Wednesday to spend a week at WDW for marathon week.

Shortest trip you have ever taken?

1 night at BWV for flower and garden festival. But my mom is a local and I'm only 3 hours away. As it is our regular trips are only 3 nights.

I say go for it.

Absolutely do it! We found cheap airfare and flew down last month on a Friday night and flew home Monday morning just so we could see all the Christmas decorations. It was a whirlwind, but DH and I both agree we would do it again in a heartbeat! :thumbsup2

One thing I have learned from being stationed in Europe is weekend trips are very doable! Before we lived here I would have never thought to fly some place for a weekend but now we do it all the time. Esp a four day weekend....nobody sticks around much on those weekends as we are only in Germany 3 years and there is tons to see. We have done London, Amsterdam, Dublin, etc all on long weekends! I told hubby this has totally changed my views on how to travel when we get back to the states!

I say go and enjoy. Both of you will have these memories forever!!

Found this old thread today and thought I'd bump it up because we are doing a 2 night trip in October for MNSSHP.

We fly out on Saturday morning and should be at WLV by noon. We plan to explore that resort at FW that day. On Sunday sleep in, go to the the party that evening. Fly home at 1:30pm on Monday. Back to work on Tuesday.

We've never done a trip like this but are looking forward to it.

How was your experience?

We did the Villain party last year at the Studios. Flew out on Friday, flew back on Monday. Wasn't cheap airfare, but really wanted to go...what a real nightmare that turned into, but we had a good time otherwise. Was able to snag a studio at BWV so even better that we could walk over.

Go on the trip! What a great surprise & memorable trip! We are fl residents and usually go for 2 nights. Later this month, we are going for just 1 night to enjoy pool time at sab with no parks. Go for it !

I was toying with the idea of going down for DS 13th b-day. It would only be him and I going.

I was looking at going on Friday Jan 31 and coming home on Feb 2. Pick him up at 130 from school and being on a place at 5:00pm. Spend all day Saturday (his Birthday) at the park of his choice. Then flying home on Sunday morning. We would only be there for about 36 hours.

It would cost about $600 for the trip and that would be his present.

Is it worth it?

Shortest trip you have ever taken?

Sounds the same as my first solo trip. It was a "Mom's weekend" for Mother's Day that DH and my 2 DSs gave me and I've always been glad I did it. Got there after midnight Friday, spent all day Saturday at the MK (14 hours), and left Sunday around 1:00 pm.

My shortest trip to date was 4 nights, but in August I'll be there for 2 nights/3 days taking a red eye from California.

I say go for it, especially if you are thinking of surprising your child. Disney surprises are the best!

My shortest trip was 2 nights at Old key West prior to a cruise and 3 nights over Christmas for the MVMCP.

As a child of Divorced parents with children of my own... I absolutely say do it. I think all the time about how in the world my parents (each of them) endured the time while we were with the other parent. (they also were in constant custody battles till we were old enough to tell them where to stick it and what we wanted). If it is surely something he would love I can tell you there is nothing more valuable than the time you spend with them. It doesn't just sound like it's for him.... It's for both of you as it should be. Stay out late.... Get up early.. It's only 36 hours!

Now that I see this thread is 7 months old... Nevermind. Hope you had fun!

Do it!! A few years ago when they brought back Electric Light Parade my step mom and I hopped on a plane Friday afternoon and came home Sunday afternoon. Friday night we made it to MK in time for Wishes and Saturday we spent in EPCOT in the morning then to MK for the parade that night.
It was so much fun, even though our flight got delayed due to lightening and our luggage and all it's contents were soaked from sitting on the Tarmac when the lightening started, and the Swan lost our reservation.....we still had a blast!!

We've flown down for one day before! By all means, a short trip is great!

We live 2.5 hours from WDW and go usually only for the weekend - it's still a lot of fun! I say go. :)

Flew down on a Friday night arrived in room at 11:45 pm proceeded to get on castaway club site booked our cabana at midnight went to sleep woke for 2 days of D23 sip and stroll left the room Monday morn for our flight home. That was 3 years ago my wife and I still laugh about it. It was a truly fun trip!! We would do it again in a heart beat.
