A real tragedy in Chicago last night

This was unbelievable. The local news is showing video of the place - shots of a very narrow straight stair stuffed full of people, from about 2-3am this morning. They've had callers who were there, they all agree - there was no call for the pepper spray, which started the stampede. Really sad.

What a sad and tragic thing.

It seems that we read about things like this every so often and it always seems that doors that shouldn't be locked but are, trap people and cause this kind of carnage.

I wonder why these doors would be locked from the inside?

I heard a brief bit about this on the news this morning. I cannot place where this is.......very sad and how strange!

This really makes me mad! So many deaths were totally avoidable! The owner of the nightclub locked the back door (aka "fire door") and those people couldn't get out! In an effort to stop freeloader's no doubt. In addition, I bet it will come out that 1500 people was way above the fire code for the club.

Grrrrr! I'm going to shut up now before I say something I shouldn't.

Was this last night as in 3am this morning? A late Sunday night seems like an odd time to have that many people jammed in any nightclub like that. . ????
