I am the casual, "Hey, let's try that place over there" kind of guy when it comes to restaurants (as opposed to my 10-yr-old DS who is a "Hey, I feel like chicken strips and I want them now" kind of guy). We are hitting WDW for a week in July and I am worried my usual strategy won't work when it comes to the 2 or 3 times I think I would like to sit down at a restaurant. With that in mind, if you had to pick one restaurant (with kids in mind), what's your favorite?

Also, should I call WDW reservations before leaving, or is that something I can take care of when arriving?

As usual, I appreciate all the help. You guys are better than Birnbaum and the like.

My 10 year old DD loves Steak so she likes California Grill,Chef D France, Le Cellier. She also enjoys the service in 50's prime time. Take your DS to 50's prime time and ask for cousine Dave. Wear a baseball cap. Your DS would love to see you getting in trouble.

Some favorites of DD11 and DS7....

Epcot = Rose & Crown and Biergarten

MGM = Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time

MK = We usually eat counter service @ Columbia Harbour House

The kids are also big fans of Whispering Canyon @ Wilderness Lodge, ESPN Club @ Boardwalk, Beaches & Cream @ Yacht & Beach Club, 'OHana @ Poly.

My personal favorite for the kids...A bar booth at ESPN Club. We get the controller for the wall mounted video game and/or give the kids some money for the arcade. The only problem is getting them to leave! (And keeping the DH from hogging the game!)

My second favorite would be Whispering Canyon. The kids love the craziness of the waitstaff and love the horse races too.

Good suggestions made already! Sci Fi is very fun for kids, as is 50's PT.

You can make an AR from your hotel phone if you're staying Disney, or at the Guest Services desk in your hotel. We found that to be a great perk, since she was able to look in the computer and see if there were spots available and such for us quickly. We booked a dinner at SciFi just an hour beforehand, hopped on teh bus and went!

So you're always welcome to wait until you're there if you're flexible.

50's PrimeTime is a must do! Your DS will love it. Whispering Canyon is another family favorite. Be sure to ask for ketchup! We also like the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. It is served family style and the characters are dressed up in early Americana outfits. Twice we've been picked as the family to ring the dinner bell there. It makes for great photo ops with the characters and wonderful memories of course.
