We have just made a last minute decision to fly instead of driving to Disney for Thanksgiving (a cheap airfare). I would like to know if anyone has brought knitting needles (I am raising little old ladies) on the plane. My kids are taking a knitting class and I thought it would occupy them on the plane. Now if I can only find something to occupy myself :drinking1 !!!

Thanks!

They were allowed before the latest crackdown. Since they are not liquid or gel, I would assume they are still allowed.

I would check the TSA website. I think I read somewhere that someone had their knitting needles taken away by security but they may have changed the regs since then. Good luck - what a great hobby to get them into.

Knitting needles are allowed; I frequently travel with a knitting project. Scissors are allowed, as long as the blade is less than 4" long (I'm not sure if that's 4" from the pivot point or 4" from the handle, but I travel with a small pair of embroidery scissors to err on the side of caution). I also prefer to knit with either circular needles or flex needles just because they are more compact and won't hit the person sitting next to me.

Thanks so much for all the help everyone, my dd's are excited that they can bring their new hobby!!!!
