A quick FastPass question!

So here's my quick question!

When you go to pick up your FastPass, can you choose what time you want to come back?

For example... if it's 10am, can you choose between coming back at 11am, or 12noon, or 2pm, etc... Or is there just a standard pass that you get, and once you get it, it tells you which time to come back? :confused3

I imagine it to be like The Amazing Race, with cute little boxes that you can choose between to plot your winning itinerary. Teehee! Sadly, I don't think it will be like that in reality...

When you go to the FastPass machines, there will be a sign overhead giving the return times. You do not get to choose your own times, but you will know what the return time will be before getting the FastPass.

It tells you what time to come back but the times are posted so you know beforehand what time your fastpass is going to be for.

It tells you what time to come back but the times are posted so you know beforehand what time your fastpass is going to be for so that if the fastpass will be for a time that you can't make, for one reason or another, you don't waste it. It would be nice if you could pick your own times, but, sad to say, that is not the way.

The idea behind it is the system figures out about when you would get to the front of the line if you were to get in line at that point. It's more complicated than that, but essentially that's what it tries to do. The return time is an hour-long window and a lot of times the CMs will let you in if you are a bit late, even (as long as it's the same day).

My family will be in the parks in the morning while I am attending a seminar several days while we are there. I will be meeting them mid-afternoon at the hotel to go back to the parks. My question is- can they take my annual pass with them in order to obtain a fast pass for when I come back in the afternoon or will the machine notice that my pass was not yet used for the day?

The machine will know the pass hasn't been used for admission and will not dispense a valid fastpass.

If they find a nice person at the turnstiles who will "admit" you to the park, then, yes they can pick up FPs for you. Up to the CM at the gate, though, and if its busy when they enter your chances of "admittance" are slim. ;)

That should spawn a nice round of, "YOUR CHEATING!" posts... :lmao:

Thanks for the quick info. I actually would have thought there was a way to do it as I would like to be able to ride with my family when I return to the parks. Considering we all bought APs and are attending a seminar booked at a WDW resort and paying for WDW resort rooms and food as a result, it would not be cheating at all IMO. It is not like my family (all except me) is not in the parks (where I would be if not attending the function).

This may be true of the FastPasses that are issued earlier in the day, but at a certain point on a busy day, all of the FastPasses will be given out for the day, with return times for later in the evening. I've had a FastPass return time of four hours before, and the line for the ride would have completely cleared twice in that amount of time.

I think they allot a certain number of FastPasses per hour, and once they are gone, they're gone, and the next set begin to be distributed. I really don't think it's based on how long you would otherwise stand in line, at last not always.

It's a great invention, though, isn't it???

Zactly...FPs are issued on a per hour basis based on the rides capacity. It's a giant math equation. :)

It is a great invention, though. A couple weeks back the Mrs and I were there, wait time for PP at 7:00 was 40 minutes, FP return time was 7:35 to 7:45...we grabbed FPs rode Small World and saw Philharmagic, and STILL got on PP ahead of whoever stepped in the stand-by line as we grabbed our FPs. :thumbsup2
