When looking at booking a DFTW from the UK have you booked direct with Disney or gone through Virgin?

Other than the cost (depending on the exchange rate), are there any benefits or disadvantages to either?

We've gone direct through Disney, but we're having a Wishes wedding and you can't book them through Virgin anyway.

Even if we'd have had an Escape, we'd have still booked through Disney. Some brides have had good experiences with travel companies, others have said they regret not going straight with Disney. If you book direct, then you cut out the middle man - you'll be able to deal directly with your coordinator and upgrade your options much more easily, as well as get straight answers to your questions.

Congratulations!

Couldn't put it better myself! Going direct is the best way in all situations! Virgin are good but at the end of the day they are just clicking a few options and won't really have a very good perspective on things! Their area of expertise is travel not weddings!

Also, according to the Virgin brochure, the bride and groom get a 5 day pass. I believe that the Escape couples who book through Disney still get an annual pass each:thumbsup2

From what I have heard (hopefully these brides will chirp in) those brides who have booked through Virgin have had a lot of hassle. We did consider gonig through Virgin when we first started looking but then realised we can book with Disney direct and thought that would be the best option.

My vote is to go direct with Disney!

I also think if you book with virgin your guests also have to? We found this very restrictive as I don't find their holiday prices very competitive.

disney!!

from what ive herd from most people, its way better to go through disney than virgin! i will still book virgin flights but i will most definatley book the wedding through disney!!

xxxx

We booked direct with Disney which was great as we (and our guests) could do everything DIY to save money :thumbsup2

Plus I like having one main point of contact and would have hated having to go through a third party.

That has been really useful, thanks!

If you book direct with Disney do you also have to book accommodation direct with them too - or can you book your holiday with Virgin and then book the wedding with Disney?

If you book through Disney you can book however you want, if your having an escape you need a minimum if 4 nights in a Disney hotel. We have done this through 2 nights booked through expedia and two nights renting dvc points.

If we have the wedding at the Wedding Gazebo we'll probably stay at the Wilderness Lodge (probably 3 weeks) and if we have the wedding at Sunrise Terrace we'll stay at the Yacht Club (I like Yacht Club and Simon likes Wilderness lodge) and then we're both happy :)

But we've always booked as a package and like the idea of just booking our holiday as normal with Virgin (we then meet the 4 night rule for the Escape package) and the wedding with Disney :goodvibes

Book direct. I think you'll save on costs that way. Plus, you won't have to go through somebody. Less hassle and you'll get feedback right away!

Congrats!

I REALLY REALLY wish we'd gone with Disney direct, they have been much more helpful, the travel agent here in UK did not really know that much about DFTWs (neither did I when I booked so didn't know better) and they are not really helpful about what you can and can't do, when you can book etc etc etc. MUCH better to go to Disney Direct. I have rung the DFTW team, and they have been helpful and reassuring (whereas the travel agent in UK just didn't know what was going on)
