So the long awaited return to Disney was schedule for the first week in March 2013. My family (5 of us) and my brothers family (4 of them), possibly my parents, had all planned to head to WDW and the Fort for at least a week. Turns out, the time frame isn't going to work.

The weather in March appeals to us as do the crowd levels of very early March. So, what about the week after Thanksgiving? For those that have been there before, what can I expect? I'm thinking the weekend immediately following turkey day will be crowded but how quickly do the crowds diminish? Thinking that we may try to arrive that Saturday in hopes that the week following won't be too bad.

Any info/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We have stayed at the Fort many times the week after Thanksgiving. This past year the crowds were much smaller following the Thanksgiving weekend. We still waited for popular rides like Toy Story Mania. It was a 50 minute wait on Monday following Thanksgiving and almost three hours the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving. It is our favorite time to visit. All the decorations, great weather and small, for Disney, crowds. Hope you have a great time!

We did Thanksgiving week a few years ago.

It was a level 8 the first half of the week and about a 10 Thursday-Saturday. Sunday slacked off some. I'm sure it drops way off as massmickeypal said.

IMO (since you asked) I would plan your arrival for Sunday after first and Saturday after second. Most folks will be clearing out Saturday or Sunday if they are their for the holiday time. The period between Thanksgiving Sunday and mid-December is one of the best in terms of weather/decorations/crowd. That's what you should shoot for.

I mean, since you asked and all. :confused3

We arrived on Thanksgiving day this past year and stayed until December 6th. We went to Magic Kingdom on Friday after Turkey Day and it was busy, but using fast passes and planning we managed to do everything. We went back again the following week and while the crowds were down a little it was still real busy, at least I thought so. The other parks were also busy, but using fast passes we didn't have any problems doing what we wanted.

We went the first week of March in 2009 and that was better as far as crowds go. But I do understand that with March the spring break school schedules determine crowd levels, maybe we just go lucky that year. Good luck and have fun.:thumbsup2
