A question for those that got upgraded...

How far in advance did you book your cruise? My theory is the earlier you book the better chance you have to be upgraded but I don't know if it is correct.
(I am talking about complimentary upgrades)

We booked 70 days out. After our cruise doc. arrived I found out that the price to upgarde from a cat 11 to a cat 9 for 3 was only $40.00 more. Did that and got comped to a cat 7. So I guess it really does not matter how far in advace you book to get an upgrade.

I think the price difference for me was much more than $40 but it probably depends on when you're going. I got upgraded I guess but it was from a cat 11 gty to a cat 11 handicapped. I had asked to be moved from the handicapped spot because my daughters use a tub, not a shower, but the boat was jam packed so no changes were able to be made. I booked in Jan and went in April.

We booked cat 11 gty, FL resident rates, 3 weeks before our cruise last July. When we received our docs, we realized we had been upgraded to cat 9.

We booked our Memorial Day cruise in early January for a Category 9, got upgraded to a Category 5. We were in adjoining rooms with some friends and we all got upgrades.

Of course, we got spoiled with the veranda and had to book at Category 6 this time.

Booked my February 2004 cruise in August of 2002, which was 18 months in advance. One week before sailing got a comp upgrade from CAT 7 to CAT 5!

We booked in Jan. for our May cruise and got upgraded from a cat 11 to a cat 8.

We booked Jan 03 for a March 03 cruise. We booked an actual room # in cat 11. 2 days before we left, our travel agent called us and said we got a comp to cat 9!

Hoping for another upgrade (10 days to go)....keeping fingers crossed!

We booked in Jan for May upgraded from cat 11 to 8. I have mixed emotions because I'm afraid I'll be just like epjenk & be spoiled with the oceanview & have to spend more next time!!! We would never have known what we were missing!!! & it made no sense to pay more for a room we'd never use!!

As for Leslierx hoping for another upgrade... does this happen? Are their any cases of a double upgrade? Good luck to all that haven't gotten their upgrades yet & happy spending to those who did!

Last year we booked a cruise in early May for late July sailing. We were upgraded 2 days before our cruise from a Cat 8 to a Cat 6. Unfortunately, the next day we had to cancel our cruise because my father passed away. Thankfully, DCL let us reschedule for this May (we leave in 3 weeks) but haven't got upgraded this time. We booked a Cat 6 and a Cat 11 and added an extra person because the rates were much cheaper in May than last July. Would love to get an upgrade at least for the Cat 11 room for DD but will be happy to finally get to take this cruise!!!!

No, all the rooms have bathtubs EXCEPT the handicap ones.
Both cruises I have books over a year in advance and have never had an upfrade.
