A question for the girls...

If you are looking for loads more tips try out the Vacation tips for women thread. Its pretty long but there is some great advice on everything from make up to sun burn and how not to get sweaty under there :rolleyes1

the mens thread is quite short
Q.Can you get a beer A.Yes (except in MK)

Your hairstraightners should be fine, i haven't got Ghds but a similar make and they are fine, and a definate for my frizz. Make up wise i don't bother in the day but *** i am so fair skined i use a facial self tan on the run up to the holiday and apply loads of moisuriser on the plane, if they allow it on the plane now - which i don't think they do but you could buy some duty free to use on the way there.

The only make up I bother with during the day in the parks is lipgloss or moisturising lipstick as I can't stand my lips drying out. I just can't be bothered putting on make up in the morning, I want to maximise my sleep and park time. Also, my skin tends to feel and look better there anyway.

If you go out for a nice meal in the evening, I will put on a bit more make up.

As for my hair, it is very very long and straight. Most of the time, I put it in a bun, keeps it nice and cool (neck and back can get really sweaty otherwise).

There was some thing about GHDs on the other thread about certain ones not working in the states. Something to do with the AMPs :confused3
I don't use them but it stuck in my head for some reason.

You should be able to take mosturiser on the plane as long as you put it into one of those smaller bottles. Or Asda (other supermarkets are available:rotfl:) Do small bottles of dove and I think johnsons as well.

The mark IV do as they are dual voltage but not if anything older.

Claire ;)

phew, that's what I've got, I don't know how I managed before straighteners were invented so I was beginning to wonder what measures I'd need to take ;) here's hoping they last til our trip :goodvibes

I'm not going to be adding anything new to this, but I though I'd put in my two pennies worth anyway. I have a lot of hair (albeit, thanks to GHDs, you wouldn't necessarily know it) and I find that, compared to my professional, heavy-duty hairdryer at home, those in Disney hotels (or any hotels for that matter) are poor. Having said that, even though I have a US hairdryer, I don't bother taking it with me, so I just make do. For the first few days, until my hair gets used to the humidity, it tends to fluff up no matter what I do. After that, it settles down (it's important to make sure it's bone dry before venturing outside).

As far as make-up goes, I wear exactly the same as I do at home. SPF15 moisturiser (brand varies depending on what's on offer in Duty Free :teeth:) together with a light covering of Laura Mercier SPF15 tinted moisturiser (which is actually foundation as far as I can tell), loose powder (currently using Versace which is like silk), Lancome Defincils mascara and lipstick. I don't usually wear eye-shadow during the day. You'd probably be hard-pressed to tell I was wearing make-up, but I like to think my face is protected and I find sunscreen too heavy for the face. I don't have any problems with it staying put, although I always shower and re-apply it before going out in the evening.

Thank you everyone. i am going to be taking a tinted moisturiser (any suggestions?) and also some of the H2O after sun when I'm there - only 6 weeks to go!!! :cool1::woohoo::cool1::woohoo::cool1:

Also does anyone have any suggestions of a good shampoo and conditioner to take with me?

I usually wear a liquid eyeliner here will that be OK in the florida heat? I haven't been before so sorry if the questions sound silly!

Thanks again! :)

If you need to know the answer its not a silly question.

As long as the eyeliner is water proof you should be ok. I will only wear water proof mascara etc as the heat just melts it off and if you can keep all your make up in a fridge or at least a cool spot. I made the mistake of taking a lipstick with me (for going out at night) and it melted really badly.

Just make sure that you take a good conditioner with you and if you can have a a quick hair cut before you go. Split ends seems to double in the heat. You can also buy the leave in conditioners which work pretty well too.

Most tinted moisturisers are pretty good just make sure that you get one with a high SPF. You will get various responses to this I prefer some of the mineral based powder foundations as mosturisers and liquid foundations make me look very greasy after only a short time I put on a base of SPF first.

The air-conditioned rooms in Florida are a lot cooler than my house at home and I've never considered needing to keep my make-up in the fridge.

lookfantastic is a great website for discounted hair products. I've bought all sorts from them over the years, but my favourites are the L'Oreal Professional, Kerastase and Alterna ranges. L'Oreal and Kerastase both have products designed especially for protection from the sun. The Kerastase one is particularly good, although I prefer their Reflection range (I use the one for thick hair).

All these are expensive, though. If you're looking for a supermarket brand, it's hard to beat L'Oreal Elvive.

Interesting thread!

I've never been able to keep my make up on my face for longer than half an hour in the Florida heat. Not that I wear much (tiny bit liquid foundation, concealer where required, translucent powder, mascara, lipstick). I'm shiny and runny by the time I've got the bus to the park! :lmao:

So next year, I think I'll just work on the fake tan before I go, and take SPF lip salve and waterproof mascara! Plenty of sunscreen is a must - I'm trying to hunt down a Nivea one at the moment, which was specifically for your face... was good, but I don't have any left.

My hair is straight and fly-away, so as long as it's long enough to tie back, that'll do me too. If I don't dry it after showering in the morning, it's dry by the time I've walked from the room to the food court! :lmao: I could do with something to keep it in place once it's tied back though... the slightest breeze and I look like Medusa.

I usually wear make up at home but find it doesn't stay on at all in Florida. So I took just a L'Oreal tinted moisturiser and it was fine - but i am fair skinned so i wasn't mega brown with a tan. Any kind of lip balm etc is a must for your lips and don't forget to putsome on for bed to help your lips not drying out - it does make a difference. I also last year for the first time got my eyebrows and eyelashes dyed and will be doing it again, as it saved a lot of hassle. For going out for a meal on a nightime from our villa I put some mascara on and blusher.
I have thick hair but just let it dry naturally and of course it does in the heat.
