Hi guys,

I was having a random thought the other day and wanted to know if something was still in the park. On my only trip to Disneyland in 2001, I remember there being a small area, I think in Fantasyland, that was themed to Ariel and The Little Mermaid, and had lots of jumping fountains and water features. Was just interested to know if it was still there or if not, when it got taken out?

Thanks :goodvibes

The area you're thinking of was Triton's Garden, which included the meet & greet area "Ariel's Grotto" (not to be confused with the Ariel's Grotto restaurant in California Adventure). It lasted from 1996 to 2008. In 2008, Ariel moved out, and the location was re-themed into Pixie Hollow for Tink and her friends.

You can read more about it (and see some great photos) at the Yesterland site: http://www.yesterland.com/triton.html

It's also interesting to note that the same location was originally home to the all-plastic "Monsanto House of the Future" back in the 1960's.

To add to what columnwest wrote, Ariel & King Triton were removed. Now when you walk in the area you see little fairies. It's nicely themed.

Thanks for the answers! Well at least I remember it now that its gone. It's one of few memories from visiting Disneyland as a kid :)

Thanks for reminding me that I acutally have some photos of that. When I do my Pixie Hollow blog one day, I will put them in it to show the transformation!!!
