I am currently trying to switch my phone to another provider to save on calling plan rates. I currently have tmobile cell but also have their @home service as well. I called to inquire how porting my number would affect my @home service and they said that one was contingent on the other, if i port or take away my cell service then they would cancel my @home service. ok fine. but now they also tell me that I am under contract for the @home service till the end of this year.:headache: Either porting my cell number out or trading my @home for anything other than a plan at least 39.99 will result in a $200 fee. Now I looked at my options and this is the best I can come up with. what do you guys think? Im trying to do this the best budget way but I dont see a way around the $200.

I currently play around $125 for both. about $15-20 of that is at home service, the was I see it is if I port my number and let them cancel me the $200 fee is abotu equal to the amount of money I would have paid to live out the contract except that I would at least be saving money on my cell plan (about $50-60 month, Im thinking of moving to metropcs).

or I can turn my @home into a prepaid ( this is the number i use for my business so id like to at a minimum do prepaid as I dot use it that much and am trying to do away with it and use my google voice number instead). That would still leave me with the $200 fee and now Id be paying $10 every 90 days.

I can also try to lower my cell phone plan to the bare minimum but im afraid im so used to unlimited taht i may be over canceling out the savings.

what do you guys think? Is this money savvy to just pay the fee and save money on my cell plan instead? Im thinking of going with option 2.
