How BAD is the traffic around the airport. My DW is flying in to Boston and then driving to Gloucester. We have heard horror stories and wanted some info. Thanks.

It's actually getting better. Really. I live South of the Airport, and we had been flying exclusively out of TF Green in RI for a few years because Logan was such a nightmare. Past 3 years, we've gone out of Logan and it's not been bad. Of course, rush hour is always an adventure, but other than that, follow the signs, get good directions, and you should be good to go.

Getting North out of the airport is easier than going south, so that works in your favour as well.

Good Luck!! and have fun when you're here.

You don't really have to drive around Boston to get to the airport (or get out of it), so that's in your favor. ;)

It's not bad at all since the construction. Probably just take 128 to rt1 to 60, maybe rt 16 is easier?

I live north of the airport and take this route every week when I fly. Gloucester is about 25 minutes further north than where I live.

Tell him to take Rt 60 West to Rt 1 North to Rt 128 North. Rt 128 will take him right into Gloucester. This way he will avoid Boston. Depending on what time he arrives he will hit some traffic on Rt 60 because of stop lights but once he hits Rt 1 & Rt 128 he should have clear sailing.

I drive right by the airport exit 4times a week. It all depends on what time of day. If she traveling between 10 and 3 she will ease on through. Mon-Wed and weekends seem to be less traffic, but Thurs. and Fri traffic can be heavy after 3pm. Hope that helps. Heading North is usually less traffic!

How used to driving in traffic is your DW? Because I think it's gotten much better but a friend from work who lives out in the boondocks almost had a heart attack driving to the airport last week and it wasn't even rush hour. She's not a good "city" driver nor is she used to it so it wasn't a good experience even though the ride was, by my standards, a piece of cake.
