A question concerning ride restrictions and infants

If anyone here has had experience with an infant (4 1/2 months) at Disney World, I would greatly appreciate any information you might have concerning what rides the infant might be able to board. I'm not really looking for what is appropriate, but rather, what is allowed by Disney. TIA

Any ride without a height restriction is allowed. The rest is up to the parent to judge.

My DS has never had an issue with loud sounds, so I didn't have any concerns taking him in the 3D shows - only to find out that he absolutly HATES to be sprayed with water - and we all know that every 3D show has to have the water effect.

If your child is sensitive to sound/bright flashes of light, be aware of what rides are like that. Most infants are not afraid of the dark at that age.

Anything without a height restriction is permitted also take advantage of the baby swap - it saves a lot of time, and if there are more than 2 adults in your party then one of them can ride twice so that you don't have to ride alone!

A lot of the 3d shows are incredibly loud though so I wouldn't take an infant into them, just a heads up. The rides should be OK, as the ones without height restrictions permit lap infants.

Just thought I'd let you know on a side note, there are baby care centres in each park, and diaper changing units in each toilet. If you're breastfeeding then I encountered pretty positive attitudes wherever I fed , and if you're bottle feeding then make sure you take your own steriliser because nowhere could we find anywhere that would sterilise!!!!

Also if your infant is eating by that point then save money and go to Walmart for purees/water. The stuff in the baby care centres/in the hotel is very expensive!

We took DGD on Kilamanjaro Safari at age 11 months and absolutely felt like it was too "jarring" and bumpy for her...didn't hurt her a bit but made Grammy very uncomfy. Other than that we took her on everything with no height restrix and she did fine, and enjoyed it all.

We were at WDW last month with our dgd 6 months. She did fine on all the rides. She even rode Dumbo.

We didn't take her on the Kil. Safari ride. I thought it would be too bumpy.

If you have a sling, take that along. Sometimes it's just easier to hold the baby in the sling while you're going from ride to ride (especially in Fantasyland), then to put baby in stroller, walk to next ride, take baby out of stroller, etc. KWIM?

BTW, I know you didn't ask about the buses and monorail, but in case you didn't know, you don't have to take baby out of the stroller and fold up the stroller for the monorail (you do for the buses). We stayed at the Contemporary this last trip and what a breeze it was just putting baby in her stroller before we left our hotel room and we didn't have to take her out once (until we got to a ride). Taking a Disney bus with a stroller is such a pain. If you have a car, drive to the parks instead of using the buses!

Regarding KS...

I took my 12 month old on and the bumping motion sent her to sleep! It's really not as bad as you'd expect, we managed fine

Thanks for the tip about the sling. DD will be 1 on our next trip, her first. It sounds a lot more manageable than a stroller.
