A question about resale purchasers

Did MS keep the caveat that you had to be a direct purchase member to go on the MCs, or was that eventually waived? This was the statement, still on the member site:

•Memberships not purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. on or after March 21, 2011 will not have access to 2012/2013 Member Cruises.

In view of the new perk, the price of the Premium Pass is better than for Florida residents, my DS is considering a purchase of DVC. He lives in Florida and would use the points. I warned him about buying for the perks. At any rate, do you think that my fears about perks only being for direct purchasers is a valid one?

Since the SS Member Cruise is technically part of the Disney Collection, I don't see them dropping the resale restriction.

For other perks like annual pass, dining and merchandise discounts, etc., I don't think they would apply the resale restriction to those. It would be too much for the theme park CMs to have to deal with to know the difference.

He's decided against buying. I think that's the right choice for them.
