A question about Magic Morning

If MM starts at 7 a.m., do they let us in before rope drop?
I ask because I know my little granddaughters will want to stop and see the characters that are out, before they go to FL.

Usually a 7AM EMH/MM does not let folks in before 7AM and holds everyone at the turnstiles.

I do not seem to remember any characters out at that time anyways.

I've never seen characters out at rope drop time at either park.

I am not sure there is a set time. And it depends on what you mean by "come out". The princesses are at the Fantasy Faire and I believe that opens at regular park opening. Same thing with Elsa and Anna as well as Pixie Hollow. I have four sons and princesses have never been on my radar screen. So I am not the right one to say much about princesses.

When I see characters walking around it is usually in the afternoon.

Hopefully other character experts will chime in.

This was a couple of years ago now so things might have changed. But DH and I were running late for our MM. By the time we got there, there were already massive lines for all the rides. Feeling a little lost and disappointed, we wandered back to Town Square.

At Town Square there were a few characters with practically no lines! I got a photo with Pluto, and I believe Mickey was also out, but they went backstage before I had a chance to see any more.

We then sat on one of the benches to figure out the next plan, when some more characters came out! There was literally no line for the Queen of Hearts, Donald or Goofy, and we had great interactions with them. Donald and Goofy then went backstage, and the Queen of Hearts joined the marching band, Alice and the Mad Hatter (not sure where they came from) and headed to the turnstiles. I assume they were going to do some official opening thing.

It's probably not worth missing out on the rides for (unless you're more into characters than rides I suppose, or miss the boat with ride lines like us), but assuming they still do it, there was definitely a chance to meet characters during MM.

I've seen the characters at regular opening near the Mickey floral. One time, the Mad Hatter got a bunch of people with strollers, and they did a kind of spur of the moment synchronized "dance." People were having such a good time, and I got a kick watching them.

Last visit there were characters out right after you walk under the train tracks. I'm hopeful they will be there the morning of our first visit- non magic morning. It really set the tone for our visit since it was the very first memory for my daughter. Lines were not that long at all and we marked off several autographs right away and took some great pictures!

I can't say for certain that the characters were there for the early entry days (though I think they were), but they will be out at park opening. They are there to delight and amaze....er, actually, the cynic and realist in me knows they are there to stop people in their tracks and keep them out of ride lines, to help manage crowds.

For me, I'm a mean mean person, and I stopped ONE time for DS's overwhelming need to meet Mickey Right Now, and I wouldn't do it again. Took TOO much time from those eve-so-important minutes in Fantasyland. Every minute you spend waiting for Minnie Mouse, the line for Peter Pan grows by 5 minutes. (this is not a scientific study I'm quoting, but I'm not sure I'm exaggerating, either!) Mickey can be met later, but you won't have such a short line for Peter Pan at any other point during the day!

On Sat. Morning May 24th, with no Magic Morn/Early Entry. The park opened at 8:00am. Cinderella came out to greet the "Neighbor" Family from Danville, Ca. and the "Kim" Family from Hawaii when those families did the count down to welcome the crowd into Disneyland Park.
