I saw Kate plus 8 the other night when they all go to New Zealand and I was reminded of something that has bugged me for a while about them...

Why does she get all upset about the paparazzi when she is already filming to be on TV? I mean I understand getting mad if the paparazzi are intruding on a private event however they are in public with cameras already filming them so what exactly is it that she doesn't want the paparazzi to get on film? I don't really even understand why they are following her since TLC is going to air the footage anyway, it is nothing exclusive.

Am I the only one confused by this?

Being filmed for a tv show is completely different than the papparzi invading one's privacy. :confused3

But in this particular episode they were all at some sort of public bird exhibit and the paparazzi was there while they were filming the show. I totally understand the annoyance of the paparazzi at the house and when they go grocery shopping and things like that but I just don't understand WHY the paparazzi are shooting something that is going to be filmed anyway and why Kate gets mad about it. I guess I just don't see where the invasion of privacy comes in.

Since she doesn't have Jon around to get upset with, the papparzi are her closest target ;)

Normally she tries to give them a few pics & they leave, but I think this group of papparzis were being more aggressive & when the TLC crew tried to block them it got heated.

They dont' have her permission to film her and her children. Plain and simple. I would be in a snit too if I were her and those vultures were there.

because she makes money off the TV show and not a single penny off the paparazzi.

The kids know the film crew and have a relationship with them. Not so the paparazzi-they are strangers and these are kids. It's an entirely different dynamic.

Yeah, I see everyone's point. They did seem to be acting jerky.

However I still don't understand what the paparazzi are trying to get a picture of? Anything they would get TLC would get and air, aren't there more interesting people to stalk and take pictures of that don't already have their own film crew?

Have you ever heard some of the things the papparazzi say to get their target to look in their direction? Some of it is horrendous. Also, they are doing it for their money and gratification, she's not getting anything out of it.

Its not confusing at all, she wants to be the only one to profit from exploiting her childen's lives ;) I'm sure if the paparazzi wrote her a check, she'd be perfectly okay with it.

When she (and Jon) opted to sell their kids to the world, IMO they gave up their rights to privacy in public places. The kids IMO had no say in the matter and are stuck with the intrusions/gossip columns and headlines.

If they were in a public place IMO Kate has no "reason" to have a fit other than its annoying - didn't Sean Penn deck a paparazzi and wasn't Princess Diana trying to get away from the Paparazzi when she was in that fatal wreck?
Public life comes with the good and the bad, can't have one and not the other IMO.
If some hotly sought after celebrity was filming somewhere I am sure there would still be paparazzi involved.

Not plain and simple. They don't need permission in a public place. That is the plain and simple part.

When anyone goes out in public, they do not have rights to privacy. They are in a public place. The paparazzi can take all the pictures they want of them in public same as I could take all the pictures of any of you I want if you are out in public.

Because she is a crazy control freak prone to fit throwing that can put any 3 year old to shame and she wasn't exactly blessed in the brain department.

Because she's a nut job!

My feeling is, when you go into the entertainment world to make your 'living', it's like selling your soul to the devil. In exchange for the obscene amounts of $$$ some of these people make, you give up your right to privacy. If you don't want to give up your privacy, then you're in the wrong business. There are alot of celebrities that do manage to keep their private lives private, but people like Kate Gosselin want the attention only when it's going to benefit her. Sorry honey, you can't have it both ways.....

No my thoughts exactly!

She is no longer of my list of liked people...

But it totally makes sense. I just wish she wouldn't through around that vocabulary word all the time. She can't just say "we are being photographed" or "oh no--they are watching us again"...she always sounds the P-alarm..."Papparazzi!!!!"

That being said--there is a HUGE difference in giving someone permission and then someone not asking permission and creating a problem. And in the case of New Zealand, it seems the laws are different there and they caused some headaches, including cussing in front of the children and startling the horses with whatever it was they are doing. They were causing an issue and to me--that is okay to get upset about.

Entertainment world or not--she didn't grant permission for someone to startle horses that her children were riding or to send the censors into crazy mode. Nor does it excuse people to blocking your access somewhere. ( I think in the zoo or whatever it was with the profanity--they were trying to move forward and the paparrazzi were blocking. When one of the PA's attempted to get them to move--then chaos ensued.)

Should she face the fact that she will get photographed in public? Yes--does it entitle some of the antics that were shown on the show. Ummm...no!
