A question about HSBC Premier

Actually two questions about HSBC Premier. I've seen this card mentioned in another thread, but thought I'd ask these questions separately.

1. I am a Premier account holder and have travelled the last couple of times on their free insurance. I've read the small print and the cover seems comprehensive but I always wonder if I'm missing something. Anyone else had experience of the policy? Moreover has anyone ever made a claim?!

2. I have a Premier credit card and a debit card. Now I know that the credit card doesn't allow commission free transactions overseas and the Nationwide Card is a better bet (I checked this carefully before I paid for DVC!), but I hadn't thought about the debit card. The Premier website states that although, HSBC don't charge a fee, the local supplier may, which I take it to mean that there may still be a charge for using ATMs overseas. (I know this is the case with Nationwide too).

3. I'm still thinking the Nationwide card is the way to go. I pay off my card every month, and mean ol' me, thinks I might as well get interest in my account for another month (albeit the tuppence ha'penny that you get in a HSBC current account).

Any thoughts anyone?

We use the HSBC Premier debit card frequently to draw foriegn currency and have never been charged commission on withdrawals anywhere in the world.

We have used it extensively and never been charged. It must be said though, that the old HSBC Gold Mastercard, which is no longer available to new customers, is much better than the Premiercard. We have extremely comprehensive free travel insurance with that. It also gave us lots of other perks.

Moving this across to Community as it's not Florida specific :)

I use my HSBC Premier card all the time, its well known around the world and helps out were other bnaks do not have representation.
