A question about bags

Hello,

I have a quick question about the type of bag you carry around the parks. I have a choice of a small backpack that will fit in a jumper, bottle of water, wallet and camera, or a choice of a cross over the body bag which will fit the same stuff in. I can see the advantages and disadvantges of both bags. For example the backpack would probably be more comfortable, where as the cross over bag is probably easily accessable, eg getting the camera out quick. I'm not wearing my camera round my neck this time as I got burnt and I had white strap lines. Not a good look. ;)

So I was just wondering, what kind of bag do you carry, or which do you prefer? Or can you think of any more advantages or disadvantages. I'm swaying more towards the cross over bag....:confused3

Thank You in advance

Last year i had a one shoulder bag and that got annoying all the weight on one arm. This year i am taking a regular bookbag!

We don't carry a bag. We travel lightly and store what we need in pockets. KTTW cards, cellphones, camera, batteries, sunblock. That's it.

Although, on our AK day, we will take a bookbag to hold clothes because we don't want to walk around wet all day after riding Kali.

I try to carry as little as possible, too. If my family sees that I have a bag they just add all their stuff in their and I end up getting a shoulder/backache! I may carry a wristlet if my shorts don't have pockets or I'm wearing a skirt, and I'll carry water on one of those Disney lanyard thingies. Saves time getting checked through security to boot!

We typically take a small backpack for snacks, water bottle, ponchos, large camera, light jackets for all 3 of us...dh usually carries it and although I mentioned getting a cross-shoulder bag he thought it would be uncomfortable. I carry a very small bag that fits my phone, small camera, small bottle of sanitizer, cards, lip balm with SPF (learned that one the hard way)

We take a small backpack. Our camera and video camera are small, so we carry them in our pockets for easy access.

I would recommend the cross-over bag. The last two times we went I used a backpack. Although it keeps your hands free - my back was a sweaty mess (I know TMI). I felt like the backpack was so hot on my back. This year we are going to go with very little to the parks. I want to try a few days without any bag, but I am scared I will be missing something. :confused3

I take a Roots backpak that I got at Costco. I love it and use it all the time, in fact I just got back from the water park an hour ago.:mickeyjum

For years I have alternated between a "Fanny Pacj" (I know, I know - only at Disney) and a lightweight back pack depending on what we were doing and the weather. (If I needed ponchos or a jacket I carried the backpack). I also found that when I carried the backpack the family magically had things they needed to put in it too.
Last trip I went - skeptically - with a Baggaleni (sp) cross over bag and I loved it. I too found the backpack very hot. The cross over did not seem hot, the weight was evenly distributed and my hands were free.
I am a convert, and I was very happy with it.

I also have the Baggallini cross over bag and do genuinely love it. However, even with that I think I'm carrying too much sometimes. This upcoming trip, I'm using a hipster (similar to the Vera Bradley).
I carry: camera, wallet, phone, bug spray, sunblock and small snacks (dried fruit, gummi bears, etc.)

Here are my suggestions:

A small nylon (light and can get wet) backpack with drawstring at top. Small enough to force you to limit what you bring with you and easy to stow on rides

Minimal pockets - more pockets = harder to find stuff. Ideally one zip pocket to keep camera/cell in

keep a ziplock plastic bag to put electronics in for wet rides

I have always carried a Vera Bradley Hipster (cross body bag)... I like to be able to see what I'm digging for with out taking my bag off. My review is at the bottom of the page in this thread:

Then I have a more detailed review & photos of what I actually carried in the parks here:

Hth. :)

D~

This is what I use as well. I like the easy access of the cross-body bag (you don't have to remove it to get out what you need).

I do a hip pack (I know, it's a bad look) with a bottle strap, I just tie the bottle strap up to the hip pack and my camera case has a belt strap so it goes on the hip pack as well. Everything I need can be put in there and it's very easy access. DH normally carries a clear backpack but it was so hot and humid this trip that it was awful to carry so we most likely won't be carrying that anymore as we are trying to downsize what we bring to the parks.

I carry my large High Sierra backpack. It's a monster, and even though we travel pretty light (nothing more than cameras, sunscreen, and maybe a bottle of water or two), I like having the space for whatever we accumulate during the day.

I used the Vera hipster last trip and will this trip too. Just the right size and it holds my camera too! I found it not too big and not too little. If it didn't fit, I didn't need it!

We take a regular backpack if we need to take an extra change of clothes, which we usually do when going to IOA. We had a small cross body bag I bought my husband when he went to China and we have been using it when taking no clothes. However I finally convinced him that cargo shorts aren't ugly so now he puts my insulin and glucose meter in his pockets so I can go bag free!!

We use a SMALL backpack - and it only carries camera, sunscreen, maps and the kids Disney Pin trading necklaces..

My boys are almost 11 and 8 and can carry their own water bottles...:lmao:

I like the idea of a one-strap across the chest bag, but my ummm..."girls"....are on the XXL size, and that bag isnt comfortable...:rolleyes1

I do have a small one of those one-strap bags, but I wear it "wrong" over one shoulder...

I dislike wearing anything on my back because you have to keep taking it off to get on the rides. I have a small travelon cross body bag like this one that I can leave on. It doesn't have a water bottle spot. That is the big drawback for me.

I used to do the Nylon drawstring backpack which is less "bulky" to carry b/c it's "out of site" when on your back. But I found that I went in it so often (chapstick, camera, cards, keys, etc) that I ended up HATING every time I had to remove it and root through it for the tiniest thing.

I switched to a vera bradley hipster...and everything I need is always within a quick, easy, "grab" without ever having to remove anything. :thumbsup2
