A question about annual passes

Sort of a stupid question, but here goes.
We'll be getting annual passes this year and it's been a couple of years since we've had them and do they still use the bone scan procedure. I ask because DH always has trouble with them and if anyone has a secret to getting them to work, I'd like to know. It's actually causing some stress for him. He was always holding up the line last time we used them.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, they still use the biometric scan procedure.

The only way to avoid this is to present your AP and a photo ID to the attendant (don't put the AP in the turnstyle yet), and say that due to an injury you can't use the biometric scan. What should happen is that the CM at the turnstyle should check the name on the pass, the name and photo on the ID, and then run the ticket through, but press a key to bypass the biometrics on the pass.

We're used to this request, we usually get at least one or two per day.

I should add that the "secret" to the biometrics is to stand behind the machine (not step into the turnstyle so you'd have to lean back to get the biometrics to work), and slowly but firmly slide your fingers into the scanner. They need to be completely touching the "post" in the middle, and squeeze them together around the post. There is a display panel on the front with a series of red lights that show you if you need to wiggle your fingers ... all the red lights have to go OFF for the scan to be accepted. Hold your fingers still, the machine can't get a good reading if you're constantly wiggling, or if you're too forceful when you jam your fingers into the machine. Lastly, remember, always use the same hand, and always only use your index finger and middle finger. Don't put the other fingers into the box.

Thanks Eric, I may have him try a couple of times and if it doesn't work we'll say he has an injury. It may actually be that. DH broke his finger playing baseball many years ago. Maybe that's why it doesn't work for him.

Thanks again.

I always have had trouble with the biometric scan. What I did this year is just relax and set my fingers in gently. That seems to help in the reading. HTH!
