~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

I failed to comment on your sunrise picture. It is beautiful!

Thanks! I took quite a few that morning, but that's my favorite. It was a wonderful thing to experience. :goodvibes

Hi Carissa,
I saw your link on Jordan's tr and came over to see what has happened. Glad to see you starte dposting again.
POR is wonderful. Third trip there will be in June and I cannot wait.
Cannot wait to hear more.

Hey Scott :)

I remember you stayed at POR with the kids. I think you even stayed in the Alligator Bayou buildings, correct?

Have any of you been to Sea World Orlando? (I know Amy (earthfairies) has and I hope she'll be online soon to help me plan this part of our trip. She just moved to Orlando so I know she's busy settling in. :goodvibes ) I know Keith has been to Sea World San Diego - I wonder how similar the two are?

I have a book - Beyond Disney: The Unofficial Guide - that I've been looking through for information on Sea World. These are the shows/rides/attractions that I want to make sure we do:

* Dolphin Cove - handfeed the dolphins :cool1:

* Believe!

* Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island

* Shamu's Happy Harbor (playground)

* Shark Encounter

* Stingray Lagoon - handfeed the rays

* Wild Arctic

Those are the big things we want to do and see. I have no idea how big this park is in relation to any of the Disney parks. I kind of feel like we'll be going in there blind. So, any info and tips that anyone can give would be great.

I'm also not sure about lunch. We'll probably just grab something from one of the stands - not at a sit down restaurant. Of course - we'll have to try one of the shamu cookies. :rolleyes1

Carissa, we have only been to Sea World once back in 2004. We did it in about two-thirds of a day (leaving around three, I think). If I remember correctly it is smaller than any of the Disney theme parks. We loved the dolphins and the stingrays the best. Oh, and watching the sea otters and the Shamu show.

Good morning Carissa...up bright and early today aren't we?? :goodvibes

I have been to Sea World Orlando, but it was in 1992 :eek: on my honeymoon! I do remember enjoying the sting rays, although I wouldn't touch them! I also remember the sea lion show being really good. The park is an Anheuser-Busch park (or at least was then) and so had a pavilion with free beer samples! LOL....Dh liked that! :rotfl: We also did a Luau at the end of the day which we really enjoyed!

Thanks Jackie - that helps. :thumbsup2

I'm an early bird. I slept in until 6:45 today, until my alarm went off. :rolleyes1Normally I'm up earlier than that, but I have a cold right now (again!) and it's making me more tired than normal. I find in the winter I have to set my alarm so I can get up in time to get the boys ready for school (they're out the door by 7:35). The darkness messes with my internal clock.

I'm a beer snob. I probably wouldn't even take free beer from that company. :rotfl: Why didn't you touch the sting rays? I think they're amazing creatures. :goodvibes From what I read, all of their barbs have been removed for safety. A luau would be cool. We did one in Hawaii when we moved back from Australia.

Have you all heard of the new attraction coming to Downtown Disney? Y'all probably have - I'm probably the only one out of the loop. :rotfl:

Taken from http://www.wdwnews.com/ViewPressRelease.aspx?PressReleaseID=111895 :

Aerophile (Downtown Disney) – In the spring, Downtown Disney gets its own iconic attraction in the form of a giant tethered balloon that will take guests 300 feet into the air from the waterfront. With a volume of 210,000 cubic feet of lighter-than-air gas, the 72-foot-diameter balloon can lift up to 30 guests at a time on a six-minute trip, by day or night, that gives them an unparalleled, 360-degree view of up to 10 miles.

Here's their website:

That sounds so cool! Does anyone know when in the "spring" it's suppose to open or does anyone have more details on how it'll work? I'm assuming this will be something extra to pay for.

I haven't heard of this but it sounds really neat!!!

We haven't been to SeaWorld Orlando but we've been to the one in San Antonio. We've done most of the things on your list and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. FUN STUFF!!! :thumbsup2

Good for you! I am so not a morning person and squeeze out every minute I can! Except at Disney...there I am ok with getting up early! :goodvibes

LOL....I hate beer anyway so I couldn't have cared less, but DH was all over free beer! I didn't touch the stingrays because fish kinda freak me out! Weird I know... they were fun to watch, but no touchy for me! LOL!

This looks so fun! Although, my "afraid of heights" DH would never do it! :confused3

We've never been to SeaWorld so I look forward to hearing all about it from you!

I did hear about that new balloon thing, not sure how I feel about it. I'll wait and see.

Wow! I told you something you didn't know? :cool1:

Awesome. I've mentioned before that we've been to Sea World in Australia, but they didn't have any of this stuff. They had a dolphin show (another time I'll post pictures from our time there), but no Shamu!

I didn't touch the stingrays because fish kinda freak me out! Weird I know... they were fun to watch, but no touchy for me! LOL!

Fish in the water where I'm swimming freak me out, so I can understand.

I'm very curious to see it!

Stop bragging about your sunshine and warmth unless you're willing to share! :cool2:

Have you ordered your free WDW vacation planning dvd this year? :teeth:

I just ordered mine, it said it'll take 2-3 weeks to be delivered.

https://www.disneyvacations.com/dv/en_US/VacationPlanningDVD/

p.s. I hope it's a new one for '09...

Yes, we got it a while back. It IS new, but it uses a lot of stuff from the last one so it really didn't feel new to me.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't NEW new. Still we love to watch them. :goodvibes

I don't think we've actually watched the WDW portion of it. I got it because when we thought we'd be moving to the West coast, I was going to plan a trip to Disneyland. But, I really know nothing about DLR and figured I'd do some research by watching the DVD. We'll have to break it out again soon and watch the WDW portion. :goodvibes

Hi Carissa! To answer your Sci-Fi milkshake question, from what I have read, the milkshakes are included as part of the dining plan:thumbsup2
