Yes - this is at Assateague State Park. Your campsites are right by the beach - so cool to fall asleep listening to the waves crashing.

Is it? Guess it took a hot damsel to make him smile. ;)

I love camping!
We haven't gone for a few years now.......but we used to camp on the coast every summer.

Same here, I also love camping. I experienced it during my childhood years and maybe my kids would love it too, hopefully. :lmao:

What other place aside from Assateague State Park that you can suggest to go for a camping?

I can't wait to go for a longer period of time. Two nights wasn't enough, but it was all we could fit in and it was nice to plan a short trip for our first time. I'd like to try for a week this year.

Hi! :welcome:

Are you in the area? Of course - there's always Fort Wilderness. :rolleyes1

I'd like to try one of the Yogi Bear Jellystone campgrounds. Very family oriented and lots of activities. They seem to be all around the country.

The new list of available billets came out and Chuck brought it home yesterday. Let's just say it's slim pickins. :sad2:

He's tried calling the detailer today, but per usual, he couldn't get in touch with her and has left a message of which she has not yet returned. He has requested two that I'm sure she will most likely turn down:

* Stay here where we are (although he'd actually be stationed at the base we currently live on instead of commuting to D.C. every day)

* Pensacola, Florida for instructor duty

There is one billet open at Norfolk, Virginia for sea duty. Personally, I think she'll want him to take that.

Hopefully he'll hear from her and we can figure all of this out. :headache:

Hi Carissa,
Love the camping pics! We really enjoy camping and go twice each year. Once for 10 days...in a tent! I have camped on the beach, but our boys have never had that experience. Maybe that's a trip we'll have to think about taking! Although, my DH won't be real wild about that idea as it would involve a long drive...he's not a fan of the long drive. AND with camping gear...it may never happen!! :sad2:

I really hope you get the move situation straightened out soon. I'm sure it's a cause of stress and who needs more of that??:scared:

Some people don't like camping on the beach (wasn't really ON the beach, but still on beach sand) because you get sand everywhere, but it wasn't a big deal. And I love the ocean so I'm willing to put up with it. :goodvibes

I guess your husband wouldn't want to drive and tent camp at FW then! :rolleyes1

Yeah - I'm really not that stressed about it anymore. I've taken the attitude of "whatevah". Just tell me where to go in June. :thumbsup2

The camping pics are great! You have a similar tent to ours, with the little screen porch. We used that screen porch area a lot - gotta love it. We only got in one night in our backyard this summer - we tried going to the Indiana Dunes, but didn't get a spot! Then ds was sick the weekend of the Cub Scout campout, and dd was all annoyed that we couldn't go without him, lol. (I suppose they would've let us, but it just didn't seem right to go without him.)

Not sure if I'd do a beach campout - the sand factor does seem intimidating.

And Chuck does seem very happy with the pirate girl!

I hope you get your billet squared away.

We really only used ours to store our shoes and stuff. On future trips we might use it more.

:lmao: Typical sibling. ;) We never got a chance to go camping with Scouts before we quit.

Yes he does. :sad2:

Thanks :goodvibes

*Be sure you read the previous installment - "Camping - A Mini TR" that was posted this morning.*

I've done a bit of shopping recently for the trip. :) I totally blame Cherie (winkers) for the Target run this morning. :rolleyes1

I found these cute shirts at Walmart the other day for only $5 each. I buy a lot of my clothes at Walmart for the simple fact that I'm a slob and a klutz. :sad2: I see no sense in paying good money for clothes that I will ruin in a short amount of time.

Get use to these shirts cause you'll probably see a lot of them in the TR. Just sayin'. ;)

Today I made a trip to Target. I'd heard about some Disney tattoos in their $1 bins and I thought it would be fun to wear some on our park days. They had a lot of Disney stuff - mainly Toy Story, Monster's Inc, and The Incredibles. I'm telling you - RUN TO TARGET - DO NOT WALK - RUN! (But, please don't blame me later when you spend too much money.) I got some tats, stickers, activity stuff for the drive down, and these cute little ice packs to have at home. They also had markers, note pads, socks, little snack containers - I can't even remember everything.

I also had to buy some trial size laundry detergent bottles since I've never seen them anywhere else and they'll be great to have along. Each bottle does two loads of laundry.

And lastly - I purchased this cute little collapsible laundry hamper. Our room at POR is going to be small. I want to try and stay as organized as possible. I'll probably buy some sort of hanging holder of thingys

at some point.

You've been so busy updating today, Carissa!

Great camping trip -- those horses are amazing!

Billets: Penascola is awfully close to Disney! :rolleyes1 Hope you get a decision soon no matter what!

Good haul at Target!!! :thumbsup2

I have a similar collapsible hamper and it was perfect for the room at POR. As far as the "hangy thing" goes...I bought an over-the-door shoe holder to organize all the toiletries, etc. It did NOT work on the bathroom door (can't remember why, but it didn't!) but I hung it on a hangar on the "closet" bar in the sink area and it was PERFECT. It kept all the deodorant, lotion, powder, toothpaste, etc all organized and off the counter. I recommend it! :thumbsup2

You KNOW I've already thought about the fact that Pensacola is "closer" to Disney (it's still quite a drive I've been told). :thumbsup2

I tried to hold out on the last update, but I was so excited about my stuff! :rolleyes1

I've heard of people doing that. Where did you buy yours? I'm kicking myself for not buying something I saw at Target today. It was a hangable storage "thing" - had like 4 square sections and was a good size for only $2.50. I might have to go back. ;)

I need to do some more research about the rooms so I know what I have to work with. I know there's a bench/chest that I can put things in and a set of four hooks. How many dressers are there? Will there be enough space for all of us to unpack our clothes in drawers?

Congrats on planning and getting your ADR's!! You've got some yummy plans!

At Le Cellier we shared the creme brulee, the moose, and the s'mores-which I don't see on the menu I just looked at on allears?? Anyway, the creme brulee and moose were very good!

I love the new shirts!

I saw those shirts and the first thing I thought was, "Those would look so nice and cheery in sunny Disney World!" How could I say no to that reasoning? :confused3

Thanks for the weighing in on the desserts. :thumbsup2

I read that someone else had been to Target - I think over on the budget board - and I called Jill. She went by there, and she said several Disney items may have found their way into her cart. She has church friends that are going next month. They have three girls, and she's making goodie bags for all of them, so she was happy for the dollar finds.

I did the same thing at Walmart on t-shirts. I found the cheap ones, and I bought pink, teal blue, light pink, dark pink, and green ones. They're perfect for WDW, so I take them on every trip. I don't go down there to do any stylin', so they're easy and comfortable, and if anything ever gets on them that doesn't come off, it's no big deal. I have gotten my five bucks worth out of every one of them many times over, and they're still going strong!

I was so excited when I saw all of the things they had. What a sweet idea for Jill to make them goodie bags - they will love that! :goodvibes

I'll end up wearing the shirts once we're home too, but their first wearing won't be until WDW. They make me happy just looking at them. :cool1:

I got my over-the door shoe holder at the Family Dollar. It cost me like $3. Well worth it! It has 20 plastic compartments (too many for my use, really) but I was able to give each kid a compartment or two and several for my stuff and Jeff's. The only counter space in the sink area is a narrow shelf above the two sinks so the extra storage space was a lifesaver! :thumbsup2

As far as dressers, there is a large armoire which has nice deep drawers in it as well as a shelf. (The TV is in there as well.) I want to say there were 3 or 4 drawers..not positive on that one though. I know that we had enough space for all five of us to unpack and put our clothes either on the shelves or in the drawers.

There is also a shelf with 4 large coat hooks on it. There is another shelf above the "closet" bar. There is a large trunk type thing that I used to store our souvenir suitcase on....I don't think I ever opened it! We were able to store all of our suitcases under the bed without the trundle or in the space between the bed and the wall.

The room also has a table and two chairs....we ended up throwing all of our stuff from the day (small souvenirs, camera, lanyards, tickets, etc) on the table. I didn't last time, but this trip I will bring several small shallow baskets to organize all that STUFF on the table.

Even though the room was small, I felt like it had lots of storage space. We spent VERY little time in our room so we did not feel cramped. We really were only in it to sleep and get dressed in the AM. ;)

Hope that was helpful..it was longer than I intended. Sorry!

Here's a picture of my "hangy thing"!
