~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

You must be so relieved to finally have an answer!
So, will you move to Florida before going to VA?

Hey no problem! As you know I loved living in Va Beach so if you have any questions about the area feel free to ask and I can try and answer them. :goodvibes

If it is still around you should try out Y-Not Pizza in the Great Neck Plaza next to Farm Fresh. Super yummy pizza and desserts for delivery or dine-in. It was my first job, well I worked in the bakery but same thing. Nice family run restaurant.

Cool - I'll put it on my list. :thumbsup2

Oh Carissa, I'm so happy that you finally have orders!! That is great news! :dance3:

Thank goodness the military does the packing for you...that is certainly a load off!

It definitely makes things easier.

Thank goodness you know where you are going to be, that would have driven me insane.

Yup - my sanity is questionable.

Yay for orders and a location at last!!!

And, since it's been a while - have fun with your visitor! I can't wait to hear what mischief he gets up to!

Thanks Irene :goodvibes

No. The boys and I will move to Virginia while Chuck is in Florida. That way we can get settled and register the boys for school.

:yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm so glad to hear that you got orders! It's not too far from your current location either, so that makes it easy to check it out before moving there.

So, now will we get a moving report along with the TR?

Hi Carissa! Just got all caught up. Boy, your PTR moves fast

The stitch thing is so adorable! The boys must be so excited! And that is great you got the money for the car accident. That must have been so frustrating for you. Congrats about finally hearing about your move! Are you excited for VA??

Congratulations!!! I am soooo happy for you that you finally have an answer as to where you will live!:thumbsup2

Hi,
I missed something, why is Chuck goig to Fla.?
Have you been to Va.? It is really nice, and again like I told you the beach.
Lots to see and hey you are that much closer to DISNEY WORLD for your next trip! Kings Dominion is a great amusment park, and very reasable.
I was thinking about going to Va. beach this summer.

If I can stretch this TR out long enough it will. ;)

I'm always excited to move somewhere new. :goodvibes

Chuck has to do four months in school in Florida so that he will have the proper training for the job he's going to do.

I lived in the Virginia Beach area for about 7 months back in 1994 so I am somewhat familiar with the area. Chuck has traveled there quite a bit for work.

I'm not sure right now when we're going to be there. We have to wait and find out what his actual orders will say. We might not be able to move out and get housing down there until he's done with school, which would present a bit of a problem since school starts September 8th and his school ends Septermber 18th.

Chuck just called me and he was able to speak to the detailer and we finally have an answer!! :cool1:

Chuck will be stationed aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower out of Norfolk, Virginia. But, first he has to do four months of school down in Pensecola, Florida. That means I'll be moving the boys by myself once school lets out.

Just wanted to share my news with you all. :goodvibes

Oh, that's great you finally KNOW!!! I love moving news and I know you love it all, so I am very excited for you! I know you can handle whatever it will entail. :thumbsup2

Oh, and if you end up having to move after the new school year has already begun, it will be ok.. You know we went through that in 07 and although I was worried about it, it was totally fine. :goodvibes

That's great about the insurance thing!

Thanks for the bday wishes...it was a nice day for him. He was sad about leaving 4 behind but is happy to be 5 now.

Glad to hear you finally heard some news. I have never been there but would love to one day.

My question is what to do about the start of the year. Schools would start here end of August and they start September 8th down there. Should I just not put them in school for this first couple of weeks? Seems awfully silly to do so. Hopefully this won't be an issue and we'll all be settled in our new home by then!

The reason I wrote DS3 is because he's your third, not because I was thinking it was DS4, although his bday is coming up too, right?

Glad to hear you finally heard some news. I have never been there but would love to one day.

There's a lot to do there and the beach is nice. I love the path they have all along the beach for walking/biking, etc.

I plan to have a fun update for you all this weekend. We have a special evening planned tonight that I'll tell you all about (it's trip related).

I've been looking around and think I've found a townhouse complex in Virginia Beach for us to live in. It's in a good neighborhood with an awesome school! Chuck is down in the area right now for work and is going to ask about base housing, but we think there's probably going to be a long wait for it. I'm going to be heading down there after our Disney trip with a friend of mine who will be visiting from Maine and check things out.

Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Thanks! And I agree - I think it would be stupid to put them in school for that time. I wouldn't think I'd have any issues with the school system? :confused3

That would be great if you have already found something you like.:)

It would be the first time in 8 years that we haven't lived in military housing. I've done quite a bit of research on the area and I'm pretty confident this townhouse comlex is in a good neighborhood and will suit our needs. Just need to check it out in person to make sure and hope they'll have something available when we need it. :thumbsup2 I'll do a mini TR about my trip to VA Beach once it happens.

Hi, Disney is so close for you! :goodvibes
Hope you are getting super excited.

We are! And tonight will make us even more excited!

You buying me a new car?? :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Can you believe we have never lived in military housing? We wanted to in DC and after waiting a week because this one lady some how got offered her choice of homes, so we had to wait for her to choose. We go in to sign the paperwork and mention how happy the dogs will be. The housing lady looks at us and asks "How many dogs do you have?" We told her 2 and she said we could only have one.:sad2: We were so mad because we could have spent that week looking for someplace to live and no way would we have given up one of our dogs.

That stinks. Most places now allow you to have two pets. I know here you can have two dogs.

The two advantages to living on base are security and not having to pay utilities. Jonas being an officer, you guys would get a much nicer place than us, but I still think most military housing (even if it's privatized like most of it is these days) is built pretty poorly. Getting use to paying electricity again is going to be painful!

It was a fun week at our house. I received an early birthday present from my parents! This is what they sent:

It's a bracelet and earrings. You know those will be coming along on the trip! :goodvibes

One day after school I made peanut butter cookies for the boys. Connor was at school when I made them, so we saved him two. When we got back from picking him up, this is what we saw:

IMG_2828.jpg

Connor said it was okay - he didn't mind sharing with Stitch.

Last night we had a special "Let's Get Even More Excited for Our Disney Trip" party. We watched Free Willy so the boys would be excited about seeing Shamu at Sea World. I guess Stitch would have preferred watching a different movie as this is where we found him afterwards:

Sorry Stitch! :rolleyes1

Thanks to Jackie's idea of making Mickey sundaes similar to the ones at Beaches and Cream, we made these:

They didn't come out quite as good as Jackie's, but the boys were thrilled (as you can tell from their silly faces).

Do you know how many days left until our trip???

Two weeks from today we'll be heading out from South Carolina and on our way to Orlando!! :cool1: :dancer: :cool1: :dancer:

Up Next - Mousekeeping Envelopes

Great update Carissa! You are just full of the cutest ideas...those sundaes are SO cute and so is the movie night idea. 13 more days, I'm so excited for you!!
