~ A PTR for a CAMPING Trip That Might Never Be ~ *TR Started (link inside)*

I'm soooooo sorry!! How frustrating! I can understand why you don't want to hear about it anymore. :sad2:

Oh Carissa, that really stinks!! I am sorry! I would be sooo frustrated too! I hope the situation is resolved soon!!:goodvibes

ps. sounds like you guys had a GREAT weekend!:thumbsup2

I am so sorry, Carissa! I can only imagine the stress you are under right now!

Oh geez, Carissa!!! :( I can't believe you still don't know. Ugh!

Well it sounds like you had a nice weekend, and congrats to the boys on the bike thing! :thumbsup2

NEXT month is Disney! :cool1:

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

When should we receive our "papers" from Disney for our trip? We are paid in full too, but nothing from Disney in the mail yet...

I'm not sure since we've never stayed on property or purchased a package before. My guess is a couple of weeks. Maybe someone else can give us the answer. :)

I am so sorry for you and your family. What will you guys do, just stay there?

That all depends on the Navy. It's not that we're requesting orders because we want to move. Each tour lasts for three years and so we get new orders every three years. We put our requests in so that we have some say in where we go instead of them just deciding for us. But, at this point - it looks like they may be doing that anyway. A new list of available billets comes out tomorrow so we'll probably look at that and choose one more time - as futile as I think it is. I'm beginning to think there's more to this than just being denied for legitimate reasons. Perhaps they're trying to frustrate us so that Chuck won't reenlist next year (he'll only have 3 years left at that point until retirement). Sounds like we're not the only ones this is happening to right now.

Happy Tuesday! :sunny:

I just noticed: "Holy Edit Button!" :rotfl:

You're just noticing that now?? :rotfl: I have some mail that I will be sending to you this week. ;)

I was so frustrated last night I can't even tell you. Chuck was working late and the boys were being their normal boyish selves and I was taking out my frustration on them. I had to go lock myself in my bedroom and have a good cry for a bit. I really thought we'd have an answer this time around - more so than the other times we've tried. I think that's why I was so upset last night. I really don't care where we're going - I just want to know!

But, today my mantra is...

It's a new day. :flower3:

I wasn't able to get on the computer yesterday and just noticed your news. That is crazy! I am so sorry.

I hope you have a Happy New Day today! You deserve it! Just plan for Disney! That always makes me happy! I love to read everyone's completed trip reports when I need a lift!

Of course, the only thing giving me fits lately...is potty training...:)

How do you ever succeed!!! I can NOT get my son to tell me when he needs to go..maybe he's still too young, but we're trying. Wejust take him every 30-45 minutes, and usually he's already gone...:confused3

How old is your son? I'm a strong believer in waiting until they're at least 3 (especially boys). My first two were fairly easy to train once they were a few months past turning three. My youngest was a bit harder to train, but he had constipation issues that made everything more difficult.

In the beginning I would just keep them in a t-shirt in the house - nothing on the bottom. It's much easier for them to know when they start to pee. If they're wearing a pull up or underwear, they tend to forget about using the toilet. Also in the beginning, I would just take them often to the bathroom and try. If they were reluctant, I would offer some sort of reward (a sticker or an M & M).

Good luck!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I have thought that having a dog around with Chuck being away a lot might make me feel safer. Living on military bases I usually feel pretty safe anyway. Guess it would depend on where we were living.

*** MOVING UPDATE ***

I am so over this. You probably already know what I'm going to say. All FOUR of our choices were denied. The first two were given to other people. They closed out the Mayport, Florida billet for some reason. And they were unwilling to pay to have Chuck trained for the last one (in Maine/Jacksonville, FL). I am so beyond frustrated right now. I told Chuck I don't even want to hear anything about it. I don't want to see the new list - I don't want to choose anything.

REMINDER WHY YOU SHOULD NOT GET A DOG!

:grouphug: So sorry that you are dealing with all this.
The zoo must have been fun. I love that zoo. It is great that it is still free. The philly zoo here is crazy in price to get into now.

Yikes! My Boxer has done this. Not to this extreme though. She is crated when we aren't home. She sleeps with our son at night and has been know to do it then also. Needless to say, we are now pros at fixing holes in the sheetrock. But, we have not had to fix one that big. Still love the stupid dog though.

I still love my stupid dog too! :lmao: We call her a dumb blonde. She nailed her way through, and did not chewed it. She is crated again now.

I can't believe they turned you down AGAIN!!! Something has to break for you guys soon!

I'm glad you had a good weekend, at least.

If I may make a suggestion.... I totally get that what you are experiencing is making you so frustrated, b/c you have so many responsibilities and children and everything involved to get your house and lives organized before a big move. Not including the emotions you have to wrap your head around based on the uncertainty on where they may transfer your husband.

However, if I may, one of the things that I have learned in life, is "you can't push the river." My first thoughts when hearing that you did not get any of the locations that you selected, was b/c you aren't meant to be at any of them. But instead, you are MEANT to be somewhere else, and perhaps the Universe (or God, or however you view things) needs a little time to work out exactly where you are meant to be.

Let go, and let God... works wonders sometimes when we are frustrated by things we think we cannot control. Another expression that I have found takes place in my life as well is this: "God just laughs, while we make plans." I think all of those points pretty much summarize what I am hoping to express here.

Said with love, trying to help you, perhaps, look at it a different way.

I'm in this same camp. As frustrating as things can be for us as humans, our God is always looking out for our best interests. Just like we, as parents, love our kids and would never do anything to hurt them but will only do all things that work to make them better and make things better for them, God is the same as our Father. That's my belief, anyway, for what it is worth. That doesn't mean I don't feel pain and frustration and get really mad at God sometimes, because I do, but in the end, I know that if He loves me as much or more than I love my kids, then that's some kind of powerful love, and I need to trust Him for what is happening.

Hang in there as best you can. We'll be here for you to sound off to. I'm glad you had a good weekend.

A good cry is soul cleansing! I'm glad you were able to have that time to just let it all out.

I'm in agreement. While my DH was in Iraq, he got orders for GA. We were very excited, but then they got canceled. We ended up staying where we were for another year, which was great for Jacob's education and the DH loved the position he ended up with. We ended up having to move a year later, but got Florida. So, it will all work out.

Just take a deep breath and a say a prayer.

How is everything else going?

Thank you everyone. I appreciate your encouraging words and suggestions. :goodvibes

Things here are crazy busy. While I was at the school yesterday making photocopies for Sully's teacher, there was a firedrill and I found out Owen was at the nurse. He'd been crying due to pain in his ear. That also happened over the weekend, but since he didn't have a fever and the pain went away, I didn't take him to the doctor. Since the pain was back, I took him to the clinic in the afternoon. I couldn't believe it when they said he tested positive for strep. No fever. No sore throat. So, now he's on antibiotics and I'm not sure if I should get the other two boys tested too. They had fevers last week with this cold we all have, but they've been fine since so I didn't think anything of it.

Anyway - that's what's going on around here. Always exciting.

Sorry about Owen being sick...that stinks! Better now than on your vacation though! My kids all had a bad cold a few weeks ago, but only Dan had to go on antibiotics for a sinus/ear infection. Here's to everyone feeling better soon! :wizard:

One of my boys got strep last Fall, and I didn't know either. No sore throat, no fever, nothing, until it moved on into Scarlet Fever! Even then he didn't seem very sick, except for the red dots all over his face and torso, and the positive strep test.

Better now, than vacation is right. Those little whippersnappers.......:lovestruc

Hope Owen gets to feeling better soon. As everyone else has said, get it out of the way now.

Carissa , I am so sorry to hear about these frustrations you are having with the new orders. I hope everything works out very soon.

Can you catch Strep over the internet? If yes, I am not coming back to this thread for at least three weeks. :rolleyes1

Sorry for the trouble...hope you enjoy the upcoming trip.

That is how I was with strep. It always affected my ears.
Hope he is feeling better.
