A (Probably Dumb) Waitlist Question

We have a trip reserved in early October. We have 2 waitlists for a studio at the end of trip for Friday and Saturday, one at SSR and one at VWL. This morning a studio at SSR was available on the Friday so I grabbed it.

Questions: I left the 2 waitlists as is. Should I change the SSR waitlist to just Saturday night? Or should I just 'keep my place in line' on the existing SSR waitlist?
I didn't know if booking the open Friday night today essentially invalidated my existing SSR waitlist (because now I have a night booked that is also on my SSR waitlist).

Thanks!

I have not used wait list yet because I am a fairly new member. I am sure there are others here that are much more well versed with wait lists than I am. That being said, from what I have read and seen here the shorter the wait list, the more likely it will come through. If you leave the wait list as is, both Friday and Saturday need to open up at the same time for it to fill but if you have only Saturday, then if Sat opens it should fill.

Change the SSR waitlist to Saturday only. (You'll actually have to cancel the SSR waitlist and then add the one for Saturday night by trying to book the Saturday night).

Leave the VWL waitlist as is if you'd actually prefer to stay there rather than SSR. If it comes through, the CM will probably cancel the SSR reservation and remaining waitlist. If not, you can call or do it yourself.

Good luck!

When you set up the waitlist, did you mention to cancel anything? If not, then the rooms you just booked would not be canceled if one of the original waitlists comes through.

I also think you should call MS and change to a one hight waitlist at SSR and at least add a note to the VWL waitlist to cancel the SSR room if that comes through..

Thanks for the feedback. I deactivated the SSR waitlist and added a new one for Saturday only. (For future reference, should I have called MS and had them do it? If MS does it, would they be changing the existing waitlist so I would keep my place in the que?)

I'm new at wait listing, so I think I missed another obvious thing. On the original wait lists I did, I did not put any notes at all. So I guess if my original waitlist at SSR had come through, I would have a 2 night stay along with a 1 night Friday stay (in other words, MS would have no idea that I did not want both??)

Correct..unless you set it up to cancel an existing, they will just book it providing you have the points. If it would require borrowing, then they would automatically do that if you authorized that when you set it up.
