I just read this post on allearsnet.com and was wondering if anyone else has ever heard anything about this or has any other info on it:

We spoke to a Cast Member along one of the lagoon patios near France in Epcot. She told us about renting the patio, the gardens behind France, a site on the Japanese Pagoda and other scattered places that are available for special occasions. WDW would even set up a table for two for appetizers, desserts, complete meals, whatever you want and rope off the area. I want my next birthday to be at a site overlooking the lagoon, eating "school bread" from Norway, sipping a glass of wine, at a table for two, watching the fireworks. For a brief moment, living the life of a millionaire at my very favorite place on earth!

I have only heard of this for Magical Gatherings of eight or more, but would try it.

I have recently been working on setting up a special event. The space rental for an IllumiNations dessert party starts at $200 (plus tax). Then there is a minimum amount for food & beverage in the $400 range and and if we want them to set up some furniture it is another $75, so you are looking at least $675 plus tax, as well as 20% taxable gratuity on the food & beverage so your starting point is over $800.

I've always wanted to set up an IllumiNations Dessert Party and have a DIS meet. The price wouldn't be so bad if you could split it with everyone else in the group. I wonder what the capacity is on that terrace? Could you tell me what phone number you called to get this info? Thanks!

Will you post here if you find out the capacity please :thumbsup2

Well, if anyone puts a DISmeet Illuminations thingy together for between 8/13-8/18 LET ME KNOW! That is my dream, but my family isn't 8 people!

DISmeet Illum. booking...sounds interesting. We are a party of 7 going during that time....maybe we can work it out! I'll pm my email.

The possible venues (all prices plus tax) are

$100 -- Japan Terrace or each section of Morocco Terrace
$200 -- each section of French Island or Italy Isola West or each section of United Kingdom
$500 -- French Island (all) or Italy Isola or Mexico Showcase Vista
$6,000 -- Towers Plaza

The above is just a rental fee for the venue.

This is for a standing dessert reception from 20 to 2,400 Guests. It will run for one hour beginning 30 minutes before the start of IllumiNations. Food and beverage minimum is $19.50 per person plus 27.8% which would include gratuity (taxable) and tax.

Contact WDW Resort Sales for more information. I was told that the upper and lower sections of the French Island will handle between 50 and 200 people.

It has been a year or two ago, but a Dis meet/Illuminations dessert buffet was done. :)

I have had the dessert party for about 12 people in Japan. Prices vary according to the menu. email or PM me if you want additional information. I can give you my contact at Disney he can give you some additional information.

I have been trying for a while to get someone to work with me on setting one of these up. About two months after my initial contact with the special event planning office, someone named Warner called me and said he would email me a proposal. I asked for his contact info and he said it would all be in the email. That was in March and I haven't gotten a thing. Very frustrating - I have pretty much given up on them.

Thanks! I sent you a PM for more info! :sunny: Having a dessert party in the Japan Pavillion is right up our alley! My daughter is in her 4th year of taking Japanese, so we spend a lot of time in that part of Epcot! LOL!

I know and I was bummed that I missed it by two months! We're going to be in WDW this December and next October. I'm going to see if I can work something out for one of these trips, even if it's a small DIS group.

1) The location is just across from Japan.
2) You are served by Epcot food CM's, not Japanese CM's.

LOL! Thanks! I just meant that we'd be in that area anyway! LOL! Now, if I could pay extra to have the Japan pavillion CM's serve the dessert and only speak in Japanese, that would be something! So, you're saying that the party is across from the pavillion? I thought it was on a terrace?

I arranged one in Oct of 2005. It was hit by the Hurricane....though they still had the event. Worst part was due to problems with my kids diabetes I couldn't even go to WDW for the trip....
