Day 3 - Monday, November 8

We woke up at 6 am to get ready to go to Animal Kingdom. Another EE day. I read all the opinions about whether to use the EE option or not. I decided to go with the EE because of the parks closing earlier at this time of year. We used it the first day at MK and then today at AK. I later learned that the reverse psychology seemed to work better. Animal Kingdom was full. We didn’t arrive until about 8:30 a.m. and headed straight for the Safari ride, but by the time we got there the line was already almost an hour long. I wanted to use FastPass, but DSis suggested we just wait in line because we’d get on the ride sooner by waiting in line b/c the return time for the FastPass was over an hour. Having never been there & not too familiar with the FastPass system, we waited in line. I hate waiting in line. We got to see quite a few animals on the safari. From there the girls decided to take the Exploration Trail. Well, halfway through the trail DD5 informs me she has to go to the bathroom, and there aren’t any around...starting to see a pattern here? We practically ran through the rest of the trail hoping to find a bathroom. I had no idea how long that trail was! After gathering the family back together the girls all decided to have bracelets engraved. We started heading over to see It’s Tough to Be a Bug, when we spotted Lilo & Stitch. DD5 and I waited in line while the others took a break. As we approached the front of the line, the CM came over & cut the line off behind us. There was a lady standing behind us with 3 young children. The whole time we stood in this line I overheard her kids talk about how much they liked Lilo & Stitch and they were so excited. When the CM came over & cut off the line, the mom asked her over and over again to please allow her kids to quick meet with them. I understood why the CM had to cut the line...they have to cut it somewhere. But, what really got me, was there were 3 girls/women...I’d say in their 20’s in front of me in line. They listened & watched as these kids were disappointed, but do you think they’d have a heart & give up their spot for the kids? I know they have every right to meet the characters, too. I don’t deny them that. But how can that not tug at your heartstrings when you see a child disappointed? I know that if my 13 yo DD would’ve been in that line, she would’ve given those kids her spot and she’s only 13. If it had been only me and my DD13 I would’ve given up the spot, but it wasn’t. I couldn’t disappoint my DD5. Those women didn’t have any children with them. I hope I don’t get flamed for this. It’s just my opinion.

Anyway, we went over the see It’s Tough to Be a Bug, which we waited a long time in line for. The girls kept themselves busy looking at the tree and the giant turtle. On the way in, the CM kept looking at DDF...I forgot she had her birthday pin on. He pulled me aside & asked if we’d seen the Festival of the Lion King. I told him we didn’t make it over there, so he asked for my name & told me that we should go over there for the next show and head straight for the exit. He was going to call over & get us VIP seating. So we watched It’s Tough to Be a Bug...DD5 didn’t like the show...she’s afraid of bugs. We walked around awhile & the girls wanted to go on Dinosaur. DD5 had seen this ride on TV & was afraid to go on, so I bought her an ice pop while the rest of the gang went on the ride. Met a woman from Canada who decided to take a break on the bench next to us. That was another thing I was finding that I love about Disney. I loved meeting and talking to people from other places & finding out where they were from. Anyway, by the time they got off the ride, we had to rush over to Festival of the Lion King b/c we were running late. He had told us to be there 15 minutes early. We ran all the way over there. Let me tell you how much it was worth it! That show was awesome! The costumes are incredible. The tumbling monkeys were amazing and DD5 loved them...she’s a gymnast enthusiast. She stood on the bench for the whole entire show & didn’t flinch. Here comes more Disney magic for her...the one guy came over, took her by the hand & took her out on the floor. She got to play the maracas in the show finale. It was incredible. I had the goose bumps & almost cried. We were really surprised she went out there. Normally she’d be too shy, but she did not hesitate for a second. I tried to take some pictures of her, but they didn’t turn out. I’m really disappointed about that.

We had PS at Rainforest Cafe for 3:00 so we headed over there for a late lunch/early dinner. The food was fantastic. Best meal of the week. The service was great. I would highly recommend that restaurant to anyone. The girls laughed at me because I took pictures of my food and our dessert (our volcano). Funny, by the end of the week, I had them doing the same thing. We didn’t stay for the parade. We left and went back to the resort.

We got changed and went back over to MK since we really didn’t see much the day before. We finally got to ride Space Mountain. DH stayed with DD5 since she’s not big enough to ride and he’s not too keen on roller coasters. When we left the park, we got in line to take the monorail back to the parking lot. There was a man pushing another man in a wheelchair...they were standing in line waiting to get on the monorail. DH & I could not believe how many people just ran right around him & shoved their way in front of him. So, I stood to the side behind them trying to block the way. Some man pushing a stroller came up behind me & tried every way he could to get around me. I looked right at DH (so the man could hear me) & told him to stand there & help me block the way until the man in the wheelchair could get on the monorail. People are unbelievable! DD5 got to ride the front of the monorail and the CM gave her a co-pilot card. She was so exhausted by the time we got back to the room. We all were. Our original plans for Tuesday were to go to MGM (another EE day). Since we were all exhausted from walking so much, we decided to take the day off on Tuesday. I called & re-arranged our PS while the girls swam in the pool (why does it seem that all kids would be more content staying in the resort swimming rather than going anywhere else??). Off to bed we go...

I am enjoying your trip report so much. I have a DD5 too who is shy about taking part in things so I know how special that must have been for you to watch her. I misted up at Day2 with CRT and your DD as well. Thankyou for sharing,
Claire

about kids wanting to see characters, but I do, too. My hubby and I have no kids which is really a sad thing for us, but I still like to "be a kid", and I would find it hard to give up my place in line even for kids. I'm not flaming, just saying that adults have to wait in line too, and have wants to see characters.

Lovin' your trip reports! I appreciate your helping that man in the wheelchair on the monorail and pointing out the alternate perspective of people in wheelchairs getting shoved aside instead of vice versa. It is always nice to meet kind people that are understanding and considerate. Not to mention that your reports are letting me delve into the magic!
