A precious gem of a weekend!7/23 Finished! link to new TR

Nice pig.

I have to laugh. Jeff pulls some of the same stuff. It never fails on a party day he has his own agenda, which is full of items he has never mentioned to me! Now that I just assume he isn't available to help it works out ok but I'd have been pretty cranky at a birthday party I'd said I didn't want to host as well!

I REALLY hope you made it to target. Weren't you thwarted last time?????

Yeah!!! You're back to regular writings!
I think all men are cut from the same cloth. If they had to get ready to travel, they would have 1 outfit and some clean undergarments. And they wouldn't see anything wrong with that.:rotfl: But then once they arrived, they'd realize they need a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant........Oh well, just go buy some. And why would they clean? It's just going to get dirty again!:laughing:And they won't be there anyway.

My blood pressure was rising just reading about you trying to get out of the house! I hope that you at least got to go to Target after that ordeal!

Oh....subbing! But will have to come back later to read!

As God is your witness, I hope you made it to Target!Someday (if I go solo) I'll fly out of Buffalo!! :goodvibes Can't wait to read more when we get back the end of next week :santa: xoxo

My last chapter had us leaving us house in Canada (much later than I would have liked thank you Dh!), crossing the border into Buffalo and checking into the Millennium Hotel after 2am.

I set a wake up call for 7:30am. I wanted to get to some shopping in. Specifically Target. I just love that place.

I would have loved to hit some other stores as well but I didn’t figure I had the time. Our plane was leaving at 1pm. Had I actually gotten up at 7:30 and skipped breakfast maybe I could have. But I didn’t.

Dh had found a great deal on Travelzoo.com for this hotel. We got a free breakfast and parking for three nights for $99. Yay Dh!

He was happy about it. It was one of the only things he was happy about. As you may remember Dh tends to be a bit a grumpy about Disney. I was still shocked he agreed to this trip.

But it turns out Dh had a plan for the morning. He wanted to check out Costco. He figured it would be the cheapest place to buy beer. He had programmed the nearest location into out GPS and wanted to make a morning out of it.

Now don’t get me wrong. Costco is lovely too but it’s just not in the same category as Target. For one, we have Costcos in Canada while sadly we do not have Targets. Besides, Dh couldn’t buy beer to take home anyway. We were already bringing Baileys for my parents. We had used up our liquor allowance. He had forgotten that little fact. He was grumpy for a few moments. I had to use all my wifely persuasions to get him out of it. Plus I reminded him of our “free breakfast”. He was smiling again in no time.

Happy once again, Dh and I showered and got ready for the day. Our waitress at the restaurant had the same name as me. Meeting people with the same name as our family happened all day long. It was weird.

Our free breakfast was a standard plate. You could choose from bacon or sausage but otherwise you were stuck with 2 eggs, toast and home fries. We were fine with that. Dh wanted some fruit so we ordered a fruit plate. When it came time to pay my namesake for our fruit (and a tip) we both realized that neither of us had bought our wallets or the hotel key. Opps!:rolleyes1

I ordered a refill of my coffee and sat by myself while Dh went to the front desk and explained our situation. It was hard to sit still (it was decaf coffee so it was nerves not caffeine) when I wanted to get going on my day. I had shopping to do.

What seemed like ages later, Dh returned with some money and we headed off to Target. Okay so I headed off to Target. Dh dropped me off. He went to Wal-Mart himself, to pick up a 6 pack of beer for the weekend. Why he couldn’t just get it at Target I don’t know. But he was determined so I let him. I shouldn’t have. But hindsight is 20/20. Besides that would mean I could wander the aisles alone. Without a grumpy Dh at my side.

That is indeed what I did. I wandered. I had 50 minutes before Dh was due back. I walked through all the departments except the women’s clothing. I knew I didn’t have time to try things on. So I only skimmed past it. I did pick up a basic black turtleneck that was on the outskirts of the aisle. I didn’t write down the price but it wasn’t a great deal. Yes, I already have one but it’s showing signs of wear and it would be time to replace it soon. I ended up not getting it thinking I didn’t need it immediately and could pick up something in Canada if I needed too. Again, another mistake. I could have used the turtleneck.

But back to my solitude aisle roaming. I picked up some fleece one-piece pajamas for the kids. They love them and they were even on sale this weekend. Score! I picked up a few of the dryfit clothes they have for kids. It’s hard to find plain white and black dryfit T-shirts for kids and since my son dances he needs them. I might have thrown in a cute top or two for my DD. Actually I did pick up the top she wore for her school photo. I also got some other goodies for the kids like coloured goldfish, cookie crisp cereal and Frankenberry cereal. None of which we have in Canada. I picked up my favorite Chex cereal for myself. I also bought some snacks for the weekend, trashy magazines for the plane, and some travel toothpaste for the trip. All in all I managed to spend under $100 so I was pretty proud of myself. My cashiers name was the same as my DD9’s. Even the spelling was the same. That makes two namesakes today.

After saying goodbye to my daughter’s namesake I went and waited by the entrance for Dh. I even got a hot chocolate while I was waiting.

He was late.

As always.:sad2:

Finally he shows up. He had to go to two Wal-Mart’s to get his beer. I never wrote down which kind. I’m not a beer drinker.

So finally we head back to the hotel to check out and catch our shuttle. Only we have missed our 11am shuttle. It pulls away as we pull in. I try not to be hostile towards Dh. We can still make the 11:30 and all will be right. Or so I hope.

I organize our purchases by taking out the things I need to pack in our luggage to take and leave the rest in the van. Again, I second-guess myself about the turtleneck. But apparently Florida is experiencing extremely warm weather so maybe I can pick it up on the way home.

We head to the hotel room to grab out bags and check out. Octopus man has other ideas but perhaps he shouldn’t have been so late to pick me up at Target we might have had time. But we don’t so I shoo him off and keep moving.

We check out at the front desk. The desk clerk has the same name as Dh. That makes three namesakes. Dh takes our overnight bag we aren’t hauling to Disney out to the Van. I wait. It’s beginning to feel like Déjà vu.

Naturally the shuttle arrives. So does an extremely large family. The shuttle is full. The driver says he has room for me but no one else.

“Well, I’m waiting for husband.” I say.

“Where are you going?” the driver asks.

“Disney.” I reply (picture big happy smile on my face)

“I’ll be your husband for ya. I’d love a trip to Disney” he jokes.

I laugh it off.

“What time is your flight?” He asks.

“1:50pm” I reply.

“Okay I’ve got to take this load here and I’ll be back for you. You should make your flight no problem if you take the next shuttle.” And with that he closed his doors and took off.

Dh arrives as the shuttle drives out of the driveway. He wonders why I’m grumpy.

We get the next shuttle. Another large family shows up but this time we all fit. They are from Canada too. About 25 minutes away from our hometown. Their son has the same name as my DS11. Chalk it up to four namesakes now. They are all wearing matching t-shirts. It reminds me of our last family trip when I made everyone do that too. I feel a small musing of guilt for going without the kids again. It passes pretty quick once we arrive at the airport.

Check-in is a breeze. We are flying southwest and I had forgotten about their 24-hour early check-in thing. We have been assigned B41 and B42. Not great but if we don’t sit together I’m okay about it.

We’re hungry so we head to the anchor bar for lunch. Dh has 10 wings and I have the chicken nuggets. It’s pretty crowded in there but the food is good. Better than your average airport fare anyway.

Here is me with the menu.

We do get seats together on the plane. We sit beside someone with the same name as Dh. The number is up to five now. He’s from Canada too. His family is the aisle beside him.

I got a window seat. Here is the view of another plane out my window.

A flight attendant comes by to offer us snacks. He’s got the same name as my youngest son. Now we are up to six.

It’s not that I’m surprised that other people have our same names. They are pretty common. It’s just that we don’t usually see that many people on the same day with all our names. I start to wonder what it means. Is someone trying to tell me something?

There are some heavy winds and we land a bit later than expected.

We pick up our own luggage. I didn’t put the magic express tags on them. I feel better getting them off the plane myself.

Once of the companies outside of the luggage pickup had a very elaborate Halloween ship set up. I couldn't resist taking a picture of it.

I should know my way around that airport by now but once again we get thrown off by the A side and B side and end up on the wrong side of the airport. It is clearly stated on the signage.

I tried to catch the Halloween decorations on the fake airport monorail.

Finally we make our way to the magic express desk.

Now, if you were following my last trip report than you know that I had pulled the wool over Dh’s eyes. He thought we were staying at POP. But actually I had upgraded us to Coronado Springs Resort. Our paperwork still said POP. I had went to the desk by myself but the moment of truth was coming up. We were about to enter the red carpet and follow the sign to our resort for the weekend.

Stay tuned to find out how Dh took the news.

I should just accept it I know. It's a given every single time.

Yeah!!! You're back to regular writings!

And that's just you reading it. Imagine living it! I love him but he drives me up the wall. Of course he probably could say the same about me.

Oh....subbing! But will have to come back later to read!

Come back soon!

As God is your witness, I hope you made it to Target!Someday (if I go solo) I'll fly out of Buffalo!! :goodvibes Can't wait to read more when we get back the end of next week :santa: xoxo

Hope you had a good trip.

Will luckyman not fly out of buffalo?

Oooh, can't wait to hear how DH took the surprise resort upgrade.

I can't imagine not having Target. I'm glad you got to do your shopping. :thumbsup2

OMG! I am all caught up and I was feeling totally stressed with all the delays. Isn't it amazing how much work you have to do just to get ready for a 3 day trip. I feel the same way when I am trying to get ready to go. I feel like the prep time is a killer.

Then all the missed shuttles. I would have been a tad stressed, but I think the airport is really close to all the hotels in Buffalo. At least that's the impression I got when I stayed there last June for a wedding.

I'm glad you got to go to Targets. I actually went there yesterday for the first time in forever, since its 40 mins from our house.

I am anxious to see how your DH takes the resort switch. I bet he doesn't even care. CSR is soooooooo pretty. I can't wait to see your pictures. Looking forward to reading more.

I should just accept it I know. It's a given every single time.

Knowing it's a given and actually making peace with it, are 2 different things!

at least for me. It can still inspire crankiness!

Nice haul for under $100! I love the target one-piece jam's. The E's would still wear them if they could but they wear really well and are a deal. I just had to take 3 of them away from them, the boys were trying to wear them and they were WAY too small and it's like....dude, isn't that painful? 'Cuz it sure looked like it!

Same thing on the dryfit, sure it's not underarmour but for rec baseball, it's perfect as I can get 3 for the price of 1 "good" one!

I love shopping places I can't normally get to on vacation, I admit I did some damage at Roots and Lululemon in Vancouver on our mini trip! And of course the Olympic Superstore lol!

Ah the adventures of Octopus Man are back! I can't wait to see his reaction to the upgrade.

Glad you finally made it safely to Orlando...all of that waiting would be very frustrating and stressful. I hope the change to CSR is a good surprise!

I would have been grumpy too missing two shuttles. I can't stand the possibility of being late. You handled yourself well. I can't wait to hear how DH took the news!

I was pretty nervous about telling Dh. He had already seen the bill so he knew something was up.

See you get the whole prep time thing. Why can't Dh understand that I need help during prep time?

He even did it last night. We invited friends over and he goes out Christmas shopping in the two hours before they arrive.

You're just teasing me now about Target- shame on you! I'm not heading back over to the states until March so I have to wait until then for my next fix.

Knowing it's a given and actually making peace with it, are 2 different things!

Dh did the whole disapear act again yesterday just before we had company. I was left muttering to myself as I did my frantic tidy-up. I know I'm supposed to accept what I can't change. In fact that's what I was muttering to myself.

I admit I did splurge on underarmour for my ds7 for Hockey. I got him a super big size and since it's tight it has many wrinkles at his ankles and wrists. I'm determined to get many years wear out of it.

Roots and Lululemon are pretty easy to drop copious amounts of cash in. I'm a huge fan of Roots bags and purses. I still have some from high school so they hold up really well. Unfortunately fashion does not so right now they are part of my dress up trunk for school. But when they come back in style I'll be ready to go.

I should probably just rename the whole report the adventures of Octopus man.

I am so excited to hear about the CSR reveal!!!

I was really nervous. I've got some pictures of his reaction.

Glad you finally made it safely to Orlando...all of that waiting would be very frustrating and stressful. I hope the change to CSR is a good surprise!

The waiting really is frustrating. Thank you for getting it. Dh really doesn't understand.

I would have been grumpy too missing two shuttles. I can't stand the possibility of being late. You handled yourself well. I can't wait to hear how DH took the news!

You have to know there were many angry looks and "humph" sounds coming out of me and directed towards Dh. Not that it did any good. He was probably oblivious but it made me feel a tensy bit better.

You made it out of Target w/o spending $100???? How?!?!?! I HAVE 3 Targets within 10 minutes of my house and I can RARELY get out of there w/o spending $100!!!!

Can't wait for the big resort reveal!!!! popcorn::

UA is worth the money I will admit and buying large is the way to go! I hear you on the style's changing but hanging onto stuff. It cracks me up when I pull out my own "vintage" stuff and it's back in style. That makes me feel old!

So sorry that happened again yesterday, how frustrating. I was wondering if your Dh made the connection with the larger bill and the upgrade before the fact, or if he didn't realize how much the original bill was in the first place! I can't wait to see the reaction.

My DH would have been a nightmare of stress with the 2 missed shuttles, it'd be easier if it didn't bug him so maybe that's a blessing.

LOL...my house is the opposite. DW usually is the one who is late. I am the one who have to chase her out. If she's on time, that usually means trouble. Look what happen to my camera bag. :rotfl:

Hi Diamond! Sorry I've been lurking on your TR's too scared to post since I had yet to start up my writing my TR again (you were the one faithful reader giving me "bumps.") I had followed your previous "Adults" only trip and had a great time reading it! I can't wait to see how your DH reacts to his surprise upgrade. We did start our TR again, and if you have time to check it out please do! (Link is in my signature below) I promise that I am not going to stop till I actually finish this time!
