A Pre Thanksgiving/Christmas Vacation, Our First Split Stay & Our 5th Trip to Disney!

I love the feedback - It's always nice to hear other peoples impressions. We drove around OKW on the bus once trying to get to DTD. It is large but very beautiful!

I was also hoping for a San Angel review... oh well I understand why you may have said no to it :)

Yippee for HM!!! Love that ride - it's my favorite :hmghost:Isn't the hitchhiker the best! I'll never forget my skin tingles when I rode that when I was 4 or 5 years old!

Ok- I'll let you get back to writing those TR and sorting photos... :rolleyes1

Yes, we thought OKW was very beautiful too. It was weird how the buses had to actually pass the bus stop and go a ways and do a loop to turn around and then come back to the bus stop to pick up. Never seen anything like it before. All the other resorts we have stayed at the buses pulled up to the stop and then right to the next one. No looping around or backtracking. That's just not possible with the way OKW is laid out. Strange.

After being disappointed at WCC we didn't want to chance San Angel the next night so we decided to stick with something we knew we liked - BRG!

Still working on those pictures. . .

Okay, I'm back.

Mark called and wanted to go to lunch.

So- let's see....
Sounds like the busses at POR weren't bad at all.:thumbsup2

I hate that you hated WCC... I really liked their trout that time. Glad the boys enjoyed the fun atmosphere there though.
Good to hear that BRG is still good! Sometimes after you've been to one and go back, if you're like me, you wonder what you liked about it.:rotfl: Sounds like that restaurant is consitent.

OKW.... oh how sad. It sounds just beautiful- how awful that they stuck you in that waaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaa-aaaayyyyyyy out yonder spot. :headache: I couldn't imagine walking it, if it's as big as you say. Especially cold and wet fromt he pool. Yuck.

Stave Church is the little church in Norway that you can go into and see the Vikings swords and armour and such inside. A lot of people don't know it's open. We like to go inside after we've done FW and just before WS opens, while we're waiting at the rope. Very quiet, dark and ---- bonus--- air conditioned!:woohoo:

I'm wondering why you didn't make it to CP...... I'm hoping it's for good reasons.......:rolleyes1

And finally, I'm so very happy that Epcot hasn't forgotten me.:yay:

ETA------- sooooo happy you got to go on HM! Yay!!!!!!

ETA------- sooooo happy you got to go on HM! Yay!!!!!!

I wondered where you disappeared to!

Yes, WCC was a disappointment. But we were half expecting it. But the look on the kids faces when they were brought 10 bottles of ketchup was worth it!! That, and the fact that we were on free dining, so we didn't pay for that crappy food!! :rotfl:

I'll have to look for Stave Church next time. . .

Yes, to say we were in the WAY BACK at OKW is an understatement. Take a look at the OKW map ~ http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/okwmap.htm See where the Hospitality House is? And the main pool right near the HH? Okay, now look down on the map, seriously scroll way down to the bottom. See where building 50 is? Okay, see where the very end of building 50 is? Right by the highway? That was our room. The view from our balcony was that highway. We could hear and feel the traffic all night. The map does not even do it justice of how close that room is to the road. We determined the only room that could have been worse was the one below us (we were on the second floor), they would have been slightly closer to the traffic. We could see our balcony from the bus when we were out on the highway coming and going to the parks.

And the thing is that the resort was pretty empty from what we could tell. Most rooms were dark and there were very few people in the pool and on the buses and everywhere really. A few times we even had a bus all to ourselves. Not quite sure how we ended up with that room location. From the "Times Guide" that was left in the room it appears that it hadn't been occupied for about a month. Maybe if they had a bridge over the river somewhere near building 45 it would have made the walk not quite as far, but still not close by any means.

So check this out on the map. We used the South Point bus stop (this was also the nearest location of an ice machine). It's between bldgs 52 and 53. About a 5 minute walk from our room. It is on the left side of the road. So we would see our bus coming, it would have to pass the bus stop, go down there past building 51 and circle around and come back to the bus stop and pick us up. Most of the other stops were the same way. So strange and wasteful of time and gas. Not sure why they would set it up that way. :confused3

A very nice and pleasant surprise at OKW was the great meal we had at Olivia's! Never really heard anything good about it, but we all thought it was very good. :goodvibes

Yep, BRG was great again. I know what you mean about wondering what it was you loved about a restaurant when you go back. We had a huge disappointment at a very popular one.

Welcome back honey  I'm glad you had a wonderful trip, I can't wait to hear all about it!! I'm pleased the weather was nice apart from the wind!!

YAAAAY you went on haunted mansion - what did you think? were the boys ok? :wizard:

Shelly - That OKW room location is crazy! I would have flipped.

Believe me, if it would have been for more than 2 nights I would not have dealt with it very well!

Thanks JoJo! :goodvibes

The kids were scared at first. DS10 asked to leave once we got inside and the doors closed. I told him it was too late to exit now! :rotfl: And guess what? He loved it!! They both did. We even rode it twice!

Yaaay Shelly!!! I am so happy you guys liked the HM! :goodvibes I love it so much!

Did it ask when I was coming back? LOL

Jo kills me.

Sorry your room location was crappy at OKW. :sad2: Do you think you'll try it again? Or are you going to try somewhere else on your quest to see more rooms? :cool1:

Get the heck out.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why in tarnation they would've put you out there! Next to the highway of all things! And no one there in over a month. That resort must be hurting. I read that all Orlando resorts were only operating at 54% capacity the last three months, I think.
Wow. Crazy. Good to hear a positive comment about Olivia's.:goodvibes

And shut the heck up about a "popular" restaurant and a bad time.
I'm hoping to heck it's not the one I'm thinking it is.

I don't think we will be back to OKW anytime soon for fear of getting another room location like that.

Yep, I'm still on my quest to try all the resorts! :thumbsup2

I would say OKW was at less that 54% full. POR I believe was much fuller though. Most rooms appeared to be occupied, there were lots of people at the food court, and tons of people on the buses.

It just may be the restaurant you are thinking of. It's the one that most people call the very first day they are allowed to try to get a dinner reservation (in your favorite park). I certainly won't be worrying about trying to get an ADR there next time.

Oh my Word - say it ain't so :scared1:

Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee! :rolleyes1

P.S. you have much more patience than I - as soon as I would have seen the location on the map I would have said - No Way Jose - and I don't mean ice cream! I now see why you bused it to the pool, it is definitely an oddly large resort for just one pool, unless I am missing quiet pools? :confused3

Oh it IS so!! :sad2:

There are 2 quiet pools at OKW, but no pool slide at them. And honestly I am not sure I was much closer to either of them.

Oh my stars.:guilty:

Oh my word.:sad2:

Oh my Lan'. ::yes::

Oh good heavens.:scared1:

Oh bless my soul.:scared:

Oh Lordy.

Oh heavens to Betsy. (Who's Betsy?)
