He's doing better His liver has stablized and shown some improvement. They are now saying he will be able to go home, he will need nursing care and may not completely recover his mental capabilities but he is doing okay there. He knows who everyone is just confused and talks about things that aren't there, he had started to have some moments of disorientation before this too. Although it will be hard see him get worse we are still glad for the reprieve he's been granted.

Thank you for the prayers, they've made such a difference! It's what the Drs can't take into account that sometimes seems to matter the most.

I'm so glad he is showing improvement, Janette. I will continue my prayers though.

I took care of my FIL during his final illness. I thought of him as my "Dad" too, although I called him by his first name.

I hope he continues to improve day by day.

Just saw this thread. I'll keep him (and the rest of you) in my prayers. Let us know how he is doing. Has his wife made it back home yet?

Thanks everyone, my MIL came back on Tuesday so has been her for most of it. The smog in Mexico City has her asthma acting up so she isnt' completely well but she'd doing okay considering.

He's not doing good right now. Although his liver has stayed relatively stable it hasn't improved enough. He is retaining fluids and if they stop the fluids his blood pressure drops. His lungs are starting to have fluid again also. Seems like they are running out of treatment options.

We are taking it one day at a time, they've said to give it a couple of more days. We have asked that they let us know when they can't do anymore so we can take him home. That's what he wants most and he can at least be more comfortable for what time he has left.

Dad died last night, he was comfortable one of his daughters and his sister were with him.

We will miss him more than anything.
