At WDW, you can only get one FP at a time. You can't get another until the return time for the first has passed. At Disneyland/CA, can you get more than one FP before the return time of the first has passed?

There's a sticky thread somewhere about this. It can get kinda complicated, since some FP machines are "disconnected" from others. I just know that in general, you cannot get another FP until the initial time on your first FP has passed.

I don't really worry about it since I collect FPs for our favorite rides early in the morning for the evening return, and it's usually pretty easy to collect between 8a-12p without running into a conflict :)

Apparently there are a couple of tricks in DL/CA. First, I don't believe the FP systems in the two parks "talk" to each other. With the parks so close, you can get a FP in DL, cross the street to CA and get another. While you cannot get another at the same park until the return time on your last one, the return times on the FP at DL and CA are not enforced. So even though your FP might say to come back between say 1 and 2 pm, you can really use it until the park closes on that day. So it is very possible to spend your morning collected FPs to use in the afternoon and evening when lines are longer.

It is the same at DL and WDW. Either when your fast pass return time comes up or after 2 hours has passed, which ever comes first. DL has a few rides that are disconnected from the network, mainly the Roger Rabbit spin in Tune town. However, you can have fast passes at DL and DCA!

The other difference is at DL you cannot get a FP for the same ride until your window appears even if its more than 2 hours away. At wdw you can get any fastpass after 2 hours.

So for instance its 10am and you get a splash FP for 2:00 it will say on the FP you can get another FP at noon which is true except you cannot get a splash FP until 2:00 (this isnt spelled out on the FP but you will be denied when you try to get the splash FP before 2).

The only non-networked ride is Roger Rabbit but also the WoC FPs are like non-networked because they dont count against you FP wise.

And parkhopping is so easy (1 min walk gate to gate) at DLR that hopping for FPs is optimal. usually when we are DL we time or hopping right after we pick up FP with a long return time then hop to DCA to get a Soaring FP. Then we don't come back to DL for at least 2 hours so the DL fastpass window opens.

I forgot to add that if you're there for the peak season (DL open until midnight) get a FP for Big Thunder. That ride is the *best* at night and if you can time it to ride during fireworks, simply magical! :wizard:

We do this at least 3-4 times while we are there. Awesome.

Seriously, it is! Once I found out the "secret" of FPs not expiring (since the non-FP BTMRR line at night is daunting), this is a regular thing for us. Highlight of our trip everytime. One of those "must-do" things, IMO :)

So as others have said, you can "collect" FPs. You can't get another one until your window opens, but you CAN hold onto the first one (not using it until later) while getting another one.

Last Friday, for example:
8:05 am got FP for Space Mtn (return time 8:40)
8:45 am got FP for Thunder Mtn (return time 9:40)
10:00 am got FP for Splash Mtn (return time 10:45)
10:45 tried to get FP for Indiana Jones, but ride was down

So by this point we have "collected" 3 (could have been 4) sets of FPs without using anything. Meantime, we did several rides in Fantasyland, part of Toontown, rode the train, Haunted Mansion, etc. -- the non-FP stuff. We just got a FP for whatever we were close to when the next return time opened.

We didn't use the Splash and Thunder FPs until afternoon and the Space FPs until almost dinnertime.

We don't absolutely maximize the possibilities like some DISers can, but we still skipped some sizeable lines that afternoon. So that's a real-life example with only a little planning and some clock-watching.

Here's me singing in the Thunder Mtn FP return line: :dance3: "I'm skipping, skipping, skipping, the line":rolleyes1: ... I threatened DD11 that I would actually skip too ... This is DD11:
