A Plea for Moana

We had a lovely meet with a character today (who shall remain unidentified). She commented on the custom autograph books I made and mentioned the Moana page. I commented that it was a shame that she wasn't meeting anymore (apparently she has some island to run). The 'friend' told her handler to have mom and dad come up for a picture. As soon as I came up she asked me to please email guest services about Moana. She said that they listen to guests more than CMs and it goes to a higher level if you email guest services rather than just tell a CM like her. She said 'all us girls want to see her back'. It seemed like she might be a friend of a friend of Moana (if you catch my drift). I got the very distinct impression that she did not think Moana coming to MK was a sure thing. Since several people here have posted that they hope she's back in MK, I wanted to pass that on so people can write in if they want to meet her. I'll be writing an email when we get home.

I sent one in! Moana is my boyfriend's favorite Disney movie (surprise to me, he used to only like the Lion King). I don't understand why she would get taken away, all the other princesses are in the parks. Much better princess than Elsa IMO and yet Frozen is everywhere you turn at WDW....

I'll send an email. What's the best email address to use? We're going in September and dd1 has been asking to meet her. I hope she comes back!

We missed Moana by a day in April and were so disappointed. My friend had even made shirts for our boys for that meet. The cast members kept telling us that she was getting ready for her move to MK, so it would be sad if she didn't actually make it there. We ran into so many others that were upset too. We heard people complaining in guest services one night and saw a heart broken 3 year old that was dressed up as Moana :( They have definitely dropped the ball on this one.

I sent one about a week ago! I only got the standard reply, but I agree that it's the best way to get her back, at least in a temporary location. My three year old is absolutely obsessed and I know it would be a completely magical experience if she got to meet her during our trip in a week, but I know it's a slim chance. Luckily she doesn't realize that it is a possibility, so it'll save her from being disappointed. She will probably still dress up like Moana during our trip though! She lives in her Moana dress.

I used the form on the website, but I think this is the email address: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

If you're disappointed that Moana isn't meeting, please send them an email!

I just don't understand it. There is still such a buzz about Moana, it is like they want to bury it. I think it is their best princess-y type movie to date, (and not just because I come from NZ, but that probably has a bit to do with it). Not to mention it is such a point of difference, with no love interest, no white people in the movie, and really authentic pasifika songs. (I am a wee bit passionate about all of these things!) I would be making it bigger, not vanishing it, if it were me.

Totally agree. I'm so happy that Disney made a movie like this; I think Moana is a wonderful role model compared to most Disney princesses (though we love them all, of course!).

They also removed her from M&G soon after the DVD came out, which is when my daughter's Moana obsession kicked into high gear (like many kids, I imagine, who might ask to watch a movie over and over!). It just seems like really poor timing. Surely they can stick her somewhere! I mean, poor Tiana met in the gazebo forever lol.

It's a really good movie with very relatable characters and the music is very good. I'm glad to hear they got things authentically right too.

I'm seeing lots of little girls in Moana costumes. Too bad there is nothing in the parks for them right now. It may not be the fever pitch that Frozrn was but it seems like it's still really popular.

They really put a lot of effort into consultation with experts from a range of Pacific countries, and worked with an incredibly talented local musician, Opetaia Foa’i. And it is just amazing to hear songs sung in Samoan and Tokelauan on such a massive international movie. I honestly got so emotional when I sat down, the movie started and that music started and it was so familiar to me, so part of who I am (note, I am a pakeha New Zealander, but lucky enough to live in the most multi cultural city with many different pasifika cultures impacting on everything). I actually couldn't talk about the movie without tearing up for days.
