I have 8 people in a 2 bedroom villa for nine nights:

Me and DH (40's)
My parents (mid-60's)
My sister (37)
My DS (26)
My DD and her fiance (24 & 26)

My first dilemma is figuring out the sleeping arrangements.

My parents are early-to-bed, early-to-rise. I am thinking they should go into the studio portion of the villa so they can go to bed in peace.

DD and fiance will get the pull out sofa in the living room. They stay up late, but they also sleep late. I expect to hear grumbling in the mornings when we are up clanging around, but they will get over it.

Me and DH are going into the big bedroom (it is MY Dvc, after all) as I am an early riser, but I stay up late. DH plays the TV half the night, but I am used to it. He sleeps later in the morning and also snores loudly.

So, I am thinking about putting my sister on the pull-out sofa in the studio with my parents. If she wants to stay up late, she can sit in the living room. She is an early riser most days, but says she wants to sleep in once in awhile too. So the studio will be quiet when she sleeps in.

That leaves poor DS on an airbed someplace.

Any suggestions or tips I haven't thought about?

If you're willing to have the people who stay up late do it in the studio portion in the evenings, you could put your parents on the pull-out in the living room, provided it was comfortable enough for them. That would make the kitchen off-limits to them, but it wouldn't be a big deal as long as they just wanted to grab a quick snack or drink rather than cooking a full meal. You'd still have to put DS on an air mattress somewhere, but at least the people who sleep in late wouldn't be in the main living and eating area.

Add a studio for your parents or daughter and fiance.

No ideas here but what a nice family trip you have planned out for everyone

One question - which resort?

If it is DVC, you may want to try posting over there - lots of helpful people with lots of opinions indeed

Without it sounding wise, because I am truly sincere-- I would get another room. Personally that many people in such close quarters. I'd go crazy!!!!!!! There is such thing as overcrowding. I mean maybe one of the couples could get a room at the resort. It would be a lot more comfortable space wise.

It's BWV and VWL - split stay....and I am out of points! I agree that it's going to be close quarters, but you know what they say about DVC...buy it and they will mooch.

I also am going to have 8 adults at BCV next month in a 2BR  . I will be in the master bedroom, so I'm not overly stressed about everyone else's sleeping arrangements :p But it will be crowded, especially with the sofa sleeper in the living room being used.

I think your sleeping arrangements sound fine, as long as at least some of the people in your party are going to be spending a lot of time in the parks or at the pool. Don't worry about it, it will work out!

I just got off the phone with my parents and they are only spending 3 days with us - STRESS RELIEF!

However, when we went to AKL last month, they were only going to spend one night and stayed the entire time. So we will see!

The mornings are the most tense for us....too many people getting coffee and needing to use the bathroom...

8 people for 2 bathrooms - could get cosy - maybe you should have a schedule - LOL

well i ve been in this type of situation. 6 adults in a FWC for 8days 7nights and by the time it was over everyone was sick and tired of everything. Bathrooms, getting up early, staying up late, clothes, luggage, souveniers stacked everyplace. your just on top of everybody in the mornings and evenings. I wish we would ve all got our own rooms. The living situation took some of the fun away from the trip. I ll never do anything like that again. But im certainly not telling you not to do it. PATIENCE a good word to remember, especially when everyone is used to having their own space......... have fun LOL

Your DVC so you get the master...I'll have to try that... I literally slept on the floor last week the pullout was so uncomfortable.

I think it really depends how well you all get along and if you can be considerate of each other. I don't mean that to be nasty just a question of how well you work together. On my trip wit my DSIL and DBIL, we all do for each other. One person made the coffee and tea while another showered, at night whoever did laundry. We rotated (not purposefully) and had a great time. I know the situation would not have been the same if it was my sister and her husband, our styles are just to different.

You are a brave soul to take on dealing with that many people. But I think you should ask someone to pay for their own room. They are adult and should understand the kind of stress these crowded circumstances bring could be avoided if they got their own room. IMO
