Day 2 (01 Aug 12) - A Stormy Seaworld
Trip Intro/Index here.
Following a mixed nights sleep for us all, we were up around 07:30. As we were all stuffed from our pizza last night, we decided to set out to Walmart for supplies and other necessities. On our return, we packed the rucksack for Seaworld, then called into iHop where we had a voucher for a free breakfast.
Following this hearty meal, we then set off to Seaworld arriving around 11:00. First job was to change the Discovery Cove voucher that I had got as a surprise 50th birthday present for Joanne for our Seaworld and Aquatica tickets the secret was kept until last night. Once accomplished, we made our way to the 11:30 Shamu show (slightly delayed due to thunder), then over to see Clyde and Seamore at 12:45 where the mime artist was as funny as ever. We then moved over to see Pets Ahoy at 13:45 (a welcome respite from the heat), followed by Blue Horizons at 15:00. All through the afternoon, there had been rumblings of thunder and the odd flash of lightning, leading to the rides being closed.
As it was still raining, we decided to get back to the hotel, visit Bahama Breeze for an early dinner, then return to Seaworld to try and ride Atlantis and Kraiken. Following the necessary preparations, we called ahead to Bahama Breeze at Lake Bryan at 5:30pm to be added to the wait list. We arrived shortly before 6pm, and were seated right away. The keen eyed among you will have noted that we didnt actually have any lunch today this is a result of our recent healthy eating campaign, and we will be trying to minimise the intake of food, at least until we get started on our free DDP!!!
Since our last visit (admittedly back in 2010), the menu had changed and seemed to have less choice and being less adventurous. We ordered the melted goats cheese in peppers with toasted flatbread to share between us, then Alex ordered the shrimp curry pot, Joanne the shrimp linguine, and I ordered the lighter portion of a chicken dish.
The food wasnt bad, but the service was our mains arrived as we were barely halfway through our starter, then as I finished my main my plate was whipped away and I had a list of the dessert specials recited to me whilst Joanne and Alex were barely half way through their meals and worst of all, not once was a refill of drinks offered!!! Needless to say, our extremely small tip should have told our server of our displeasure. Its a real pity as previously we have always enjoyed good food and excellent service at Bahama Breeze, but probably unlikely to go again either this holiday or in the future.
Anyhow, the upside of our rushed meal was that we were back at Seaworld just after 7pm (having kept our parking receipt), and hit Atlantis with only a 10 minute wait which we rode twice, then onto Kraiken, and back onto Atlantis which was virtually walk-on for a final two goes.
At just after 9pm, we decided to call it a night and headed back to the Sheraton for a brew and to check up on Thursdays weather forecast before catching up on some much needed sleep.
