A Pirate Princess's stay at Walt Disney World: Wish trip 2011

We just got a call from MAW and they said that POSSIBLE dates are August 22-28!!!!! OMG We are so shocked! We just met with the wish granter two months ago and we may be leaving this month! We gotta start planning! Maroo, we got dates!

Yay!!!! That's awesome!!

Okay, so my mom will NOT rent a car and we will be taking the MEARS shuttle to GKTW and to the theme parks. We are well aware of the schedule of the shuttles. Quick question, have any of taken MEARS as your transportation?

Concerning airline travel, what have you guys done regarding the luggage? Have you carried on or do you check every bag?

We are thinking about doing a whole day at Magic kingdom and a whole day at Epcot. Then, one day to park hop between Animal Kingdom and MGM. What do you think? It'll be something like this:
This is a VERY PREMATURE itinerary so please help me out...any suggestions would be great!

August 22 (Monday)
Arrive at GKTW ( we don't have flight times yet)
Spend the day at GKTW
Attend the Discovery Cove Animal Exploration from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

August 23
Full day at Magic Kingdom
(I think we'll also see the fireworks)

August 24
Universal Studios/IOU
Village Idol?

August 25
Full day at Epcot
Christmas at the village?

August 26
Universal Studios/IOU

August 27
Go horseback riding
Animal Kingdom/MGM

August 28
Leave :sad2:

So that leaves out Sea World.....?

Also, how does the heat in Orlando during August impact heart patients? I mean, aside from the obvious. Any advice? I told my family that we could get a wheelchair and put anyone who's really tired in it. I mean, I don't mind pushing my sister or mother( don't worry, they all weigh less than me). They also have medical conditions and my mom really tires easily. What do you think of that idea? Or should we not get a wheelchair just to not have the burden of dealing with it?

I think your schedule looks great. You could always add Sea World on your second Universal /IOA day if you get it done on the first day. Take lots of breaks from the heat and drink lots of water. My biggest tip is to go with the flow. You never know when magic will happen and where it might take you! Do you need any dining reservations for your Disney days. I am willing to help you set them up if you need any help.

Are there any rides or characters that you do not want to miss? I would make a top three things that you want to see at each park and then plan on doing those and think of all extra rides / experiences as bonuses. I hope this helps! :cheer2:

Thanks! We definitely want to do Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Mission:Space, Expedition Everest..and that's all I can think about right now. You see, all I know is Disneyland. I do not know anything about Disney World so I don't even in which parks these rides are at. If you can help me out with that that would be great!
I don't think we will be making dining reservations.

It sounds like you really like the thrill rides. Since there are four parks, there is a lot more to see!

Tower of Terror - at Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania - at Hollywood Studios
Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad Mountain, Space Mountain - at Magic Kingdom
Mission:Space, Soarin' and Test Track - Epcot
Expedition Everest and the Safari- at Animal Kingdom

Disney.com will have park maps with all of the attractions listed. The park layouts of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom are very different and you can get disoriented quickly. The Magic Kingdom is a hub and spoke system with the castle in the middle and then each land is a spoke from the hub. You can also take the train around the entire park from Main Street and stay on until back at Main Street to get a feel for the size of the park.

I also have two very detailed trip reports in my signature that will explain many of the dining venues and rides with tons of photos if that will help!

Keep asking questions and I will try to answer them as I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World many times! :wizard:

Thank you so much! I have written this down!
I will definitely look at your trip reports now! I do enjoy pictures!

Also, on page 3 of my PTR, can you answer my airline question?

Usually I am one for checking a suitcase and then carrying on a smaller duffle bag. The last trip I went on the duffle bag went and came home practically empty, but I like the idea of having more room for souviners.

I like the idea of doing Ak and DHS in one day. My family rarely goes to each but when we do we usually do the two in one day. The half of day at each gives us enough time to do the headliners at each park. I would suggest doing AK in the morning though and then DHS in the afternoon. DHS usually stays open alittle later so you'll have more time there in the afternoon then AK:goodvibes

I don't have a good answer for airlines. You will have to pay for each checked bag and depending on the airline, the fees run $25-$50 per bag. You can carry-on two bags. I generally take a good sized backpack as my personal item (purse) and then a rolling duffle that fits in the overhead compartments for my clothes. Any liquids will have to be under three ounces per item and be in a quart sized ziplock bag that you will need to send through screening with your shoes and out of your packed bag. You can re-pack it once your bag is checked.

I know that some Wish groups provide a spending allowance that you can use for food, souveniers and checked bags. I have no idea how much to tell you to expect. My son's wish group did not provide any spending money so each group is different. I am sure you will have more answers soon. :yay:

Okay. When we went to Disneyland this year, we checked two really big bags and carried on three medium sized bags and also personal items.
My mom is really keeping things secret..like if we are REALLY going..( 'cus she told they are possible dates, not secure), also like when are they calling back and such. I really don't want this to happen: find out that we're not going 'cus MAW couldn't make arrangement in time.

Oh, and kdzbear, I'm lovin' your TR! I love the outfits you made. You made them, right?

If you don't want to push a wheelchair around..rent a scooter. My mom has really bad fibro and so always gets a scooter to ride around. It's the only way she can make it 8 hours through the parks.

Thanks! I'll comment that to my mom!

Oh, and kdzbear, I'm lovin' your TR! I love the outfits you made. You made them, right?

Actually, most of the outfits were made by disboard members as my family was chosen to be part of the big give. I only made a few skirts and shorts if you are referring to the November trip. I don't remember what they wore in September. I have started sewing a lot more again. I took a break when Tyler was little.

I forgot to add that you would like the Rockin' Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios. I hope that your heart is doing better. Will the doctor let you ride the roller coasters? I hope that your mom will let you know the confirmed dates soon!

Oh, okay. I thought about the big give when I saw the photos. Your photos are amazing!

Thanks for the suggestion! I think the doctor will let me. I love roller coasters! My heart's doing a bit poorly today. Please read below.

I have not been feeling well today. As you may know, one of my diagnosis is premature beats of the hearts, called arrhythmia. With no history of cardiac serious, these are not serious. But of course, I have history. Since this morning, they've been coming in clusters ( bigeminy and trigeminy- that's when there's either an extra or missed beat every two or three beats). This can be very annoying as you don't get a break from having a missed beat every two beats and can cause fatigue. I've had about 5 clusters today, each with around 40 missed or extra beats. Sometimes, they come randomly( those I don't count), but today has not been good.

I can recall my the wort day of my life regarding my arrhythmias during I did not recieve medical attention because I did not want to freak Mom out. It was during our vacation at Disneyland, we went to Universal Studios for the day. It was around 3 pm as we were headed back to the hotel( a one hour drive). I started getting a missed or extra beat every three beats or four. It continued for about an hour. I was completely exhausted after that hour and the family decided to get something to eat so we went to the mall. Miraculously, as we were eating I only had around 30 abnormal beats and I " took a break" it. Little did I know, that this was going to last until 9:00 am the following morning.

When we headed back to the hotel, it started all over again as I watching TV. Lub dub Lub dub Lub dub -PAUSE- Lub dub lub dub -PAUSE-...When it started again, it didn't "stop" until three hours later. i don't know how to do the math here, but thhat's a lot of missed beats. By then, I started getting a pain in my chest every time there would be an abnormal beat because the contraction of the heart would be very powerful. Trust me, when you've dealt with more than 300 extra or missed beats, those extra beats start to hurt.- at least for me.-

I did not tell my parents anything 'cause I thought this would all pass. I went to bed early. Guess what woke me up? A very powerful extra beat. It continued on during breakfast. I know I shouldn't have done this and I NEVER WILL. I took an extra dose of my heart meds. I take beta-blockers. An hour later, everything stopped and I could finally breathe again. I think I learned a lesson. ALWAYS INFORM EVERYTHING.

I've commented to my mom about this today. We're not too concerned as they're not that frequent as THAT time. But if they continue on even when I'm in bed, I think we'll have to do something.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.
Make sure your Mom ALWAYS knows what's up with you.
Hope you get more info on your trip soon!

So coincidental that we updated at the same time. I hope you start to feel better soon and that you soon find out your for sure details of you anticipated trip :P
