A pictorial trip report! Updated 18/06/08, 990 Pictures so far, not close to done!

Welcome back. Too bad it wasn't nicer here for your arrival. I can't wait to see and hear all about your trip. I hear you about being exhausted every night. I always have good intentions about writing notes just for myself to remember what worked and what didn't. I'm always too tired! Disney is definitly not for wimps and not a relaxing holiday, but it sure is fun:cool1:

first chapter, lets go!

LOL

I'm working on it! You wouldn't believe how tough it is to organize and upload all of this! :rotfl: First chapter will be up tomorrow for sure and likely a few more chapters as well. :goodvibes

Yayy ... looking forward to it.

And so it begins!

First note: You know that voice recorder I said I was going to bring because I forgot a lot of stuff from previous trips and "this trip will be different!" Yeah, didn't bring one of those! Fortunately, between DW and I, we'll be able to remember most of what happened, but occasionally I may time travel a bit because of something I remember later! We do have notes though, so that'll help. Also, bear with the first few pictures, I know they won't be terribly exciting, but I want to present everything as it happened! You seasoned air travelers will probably be asleep by the second or third pictures from the airport and planes, but I'm putting them in anyway! :rotfl:

I also apologize in advance to anyone with a slow connection, your computer will probably burst into flames before it loads all these pictures. If you have dial-up, I suppose you could click on each page and go take a nap until it loads.

Another quick note: I'm actually using one of my souvenirs while writing this report!

I love the way the keyboard looks, but ugh, the stickers keep coming off and when you type at 60+ words per minute, that's not good! Oh well, I'll see how long they last and enjoy them while they do! :goodvibes

We were mostly packed on Thursday morning, just a few odds and ends to put in the bags. We got up at around 7am to go have breakfast at McDonalds with the in-laws. Having breakfast at Mickey D's before each trip has become a small tradition for us and by jove, we aren't going to miss it this time either! I'm sure flying with all that extra grease in you has got to be beneficial! After breakfast, we double-checked our list of things to bring sat back to relax until around 1:30pm. After the trouble I had with my ADR's being all messed up about a month ago, I made absolutely sure that I had this:

I just had this vision of us getting there and them having no record again of any of our ADRs! It would have been great fun trying to get ADRs to all those restaurants during Spring Break with no real notice!

At 1:15pm, I called for our taxi and we waited at the door, getting very excited!

By the way, notice in this picture that we have 2 suitcases and 2 carry-ons? That ended up being a $110 mistake! :scared1: Somehow, we kind of neglected to think about what we'd do with souvenirs, considering that both of our suitcases were completely packed full. We ended up having to buy another suitcase.

I really like having a WDW suitcase, just wish it hadn't come with a $100 pricetag! Next time, we're bringing an extra empty suitcase! :thumbsup2

The taxi arrived and you now get a glimpse of what we were leaving behind! Of course, this isn't news to you Winnipeg'ers that are reading! :rotfl:

Bear in mind, this is a picture from after most of the snow has vanished! We left the house without jackets, I was only wearing a t-shirt! If I remember corrrectly, I think it was only -3C that day though, so that wasn't too bad.

We arrived at the airport and breezed through customs with no problems at all. A view from where we sat and waited for our flight:

We made it, we're on our way!

Our plane was about 20 minutes late getting in and our stopover time only gave us about 45 minutes to get to where we needed to be to make our connection. Neither of us are frequent fliers and this was our first time flying by ourselves, so we were a little worried about making the next flight, but we managed to even have time to grab something to eat. This was a very welcome sight:

A better view outside this airport, no snow!

We landed at around 11:45pm and navigated the maze they call the Orlando Airport. Our travel agent had said that we could either let Magical Express take our luggage for us or get our luggage and take it to the driver to be checked onto the bus. We decided we'd rather take charge of our own luggage and waited somewhat patiently for the suitcases to appear. The big blue one appeared almost immediately and we figured the small green one should be somewhere nearby right? After watching person after person get all of their luggage and wander off, there were only 3 lonely bags on that treadmill and none of them were our missing bag! This is the suitcase that all of our toiletries were contained in of course! We checked in with NWAs baggage service counter and they had someone check everywhere for us, but no luck. One of them figured that maybe ME had grabbed one bag but not the other and if that was the case, then we'd likely be able to claim it tomorrow morning. Yay, no toothbrushes or anything.

So by the time this was all done, it was probably about 12:45 or so when we got onto our bus. I was more concerned with getting on the bus than with taking its picture, but I did get one from inside!

I was amazed, I had figured that we'd be some of the few people on board but it was packed! That had me a bit worried about what we were getting into crowd-wise!

After a fairly short trip, we finally arrived! Here's the first picture I managed to take at Pop Century:

I love seeing this as we go inside: :cloud9:  :worship:

Check-in went very smoothly and DW has a picture somewhere of the clock when we finally got into the room. It was 2:06am. :scared: I'll post that picture when I find it.

That's all for this post, much, much more to come though. We weren't even close to going to sleep at this point and were also looking at getting up for rope-drop in Epcot the next day!

These keyboard stickers are driving me nuts! I keep having to stop typing to replace them! Maybe I should get some crazy glue...

Great start! Thanks for taking the time to post all of those pictures - it feels like we're really along for the ride...

I too have learned from this mistake. I know pack a small, carry-on size suitcase inside my checked luggage and pack my stuff in and around it but then have it for souvenirs on the way home!

Great start! Can't wait to read more!

Great pics!! Loving the TR so far!! I really liked the stickers, too bad they keep popping off....fill us in if you find something that keeps them on good! (May have to find those at WDW!!)LOL For our past two trips we have brought an extra suitcase for souvies....we ended up buying a suitcase in Dec 06, because we didn't have enough room either! I sure hope your other bag finds you!!

Great pics, makes it easy to really follow along with what you were doing at the time.

Too bad those keyboard stickers aren't working, I fell in love with them when I saw them in your picture and thought "I need to get me some of those!" but not if they don't work well. That's a bummer.

Allyson :)

I love your trip report!!!I have enjoyed reading it. Can't wait to see all the great pictures.
thanks!

So far, so goodpopcorn:: So glad you type so well. I'm a hunt and peck type. Hope you get your luggage soon.

Sorry for the delay everyone, I'm back working like crazy and the hockey playoffs have just started! For the next few days I'll be doing about one installment per day, starting tonight after I get home from work at around 9:30pm CST. My next days off are on Monday and Tuesday, so I'll be putting up a lot more installments on those days! :goodvibes
