A painted brick house??

Anyone ever see a painted brick house?

There is one near me that they painted a slate gray. I think I am going to talk to the owners this week.

My brick little Cape Cod is looking yucky and dingy. Needs a "new attitude"!!

Any thoughts?

I've seen the kind where it was sort of "white washed" and you could see the brick through the white. And I have seen the kind where the brick was totally covered.

Sorry, but I like the "natural" look and color of brick..

Do you have to keep painting brick like you would a wood house?

I know that having to repaint would be a BIG PAIN..and don't know if it would make my house harder to sell...

I was raised to believe that there is a special place in hell for people who paint brick.

It looks good at first, then gets old and starts peeling, and the second coat that goes on looks like leprosy, no matter how much scraping you try.

No offense to anyone who has painted their brick, or is intending to do so.

Try just cleaning it up first and see how you like it, you can make the brick look good again; but if you paint it, it will always be painted.

You should try just power washing it before you go painting it. It would make a huge difference and you could keep the natural brick style.

Nothing personal, but I HATE when people do this. One of the huge selling points for a brick home is that it's virtually maintenance free. Once you paint it - that's IT for that.

Rent a power washer or have a pro do it for you. Please don't paint your brick!!!

I got my brick house power washed last weekend and WOW!!! Is that the same house?! It looks 100 % better. Try it, it is amazing how a good washing will make brick look better.
