Does anybody know if there is a way to tell when the APH rate is available for upcoming stays at the Universal hotels? We are considering a trip for maybe late July or earlier August but for the few nights I tried, I couldn't get the code to work. Do I have to plug in all the possible days that we would be going or does somebody know is it not valid for August or maybe sold out?

TIA!

I think that there is going to be no AP discounts from around the middle of June to the middle of August this year. I would call and ask, but thats what has been said in other threads.

No APH discounts for mid June- mid August have come up. My bet is that the hotels are expecting to be full.

When I called the person said no discounts for June 10-august 21. BOO:confused::sad2:

Just checked the AP website and summer discounts have been skipped:

Annual Passholders as low as $139‡‡

Kick back and get away from it all at the exotic Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando®.

May 1 - June 9, 2011: Rates from $154
August 21 - October 6, 2011: Rates from $139

Of course our trip is planned for Aug 13-20, so I missed that boat. Looks like an all Disney trip.

Bummer - when I put in for an arrival around Oct. 8 or so, it still doesn't show up. I used Portofino Bay and didn't try RPR though. I would think if one discounted, the other one would too...???:confused3

Just checked RPR as well for 10/8 and no APH discount. Bummer...

Mid Week is available with APH in early October, weekends and later weekdays are not.

True, Damo... and if the hotels fill up without AP rates being available the will not put those rates out at all. This stinks for us too as we are planning to be there the weekend of Oct 14/15... :sad1:

It sucks that there are no AP rates this summer, which as teachers is the only time we can be there. Instead of our usual 4 nights at RPR, we may just do one night and spend the rest of the time at WDW. Right now, we are trying to decide to do one night at RPR (giving us two days of EE and FOTL), or 3 nights somewhere else (and just dealing with the crowds and no EE or FOTL). The second option is cheaper. I'm finding it hard to justify $300 for just one night at the RPR. It may be our last trip to UO for a while since we are DVC members and have our hotels taken care of already there. I just can't afford the $300/night price, especially when the rates are less than half that in August. I'm happy UO is getting the business and the attention it deserves:thumbsup2, but I'm not happy we got priced right out.:sad2:

We're also cancelling our AP's since there's no reason to have them if we can't get a APH rate anymore in the summer (when we travel).:sad1:

I agree and feel very much the same way. We usually spend a few nights at Universal, but with no AP rates we are just going to drive over for a day and spend it in the parks. It is still possible some sort of AP rate may be released in the next few weeks...Fingers crossed.
I sort of feel I've lost value in my AP.

I know a lot of people are upset. Just because in the past there has always been the discount does not mean there will be it every time. I don't want to start anything but, we have all been fortunate up until this point. This is from Universal's website for AP pass benefits:

Rooms at this promotional rate are based upon availability. Advanced reservations required. Blackout dates and arrival departure restrictions may apply. Premier Passholder rates do not quality for Loews First benefits.

no Xmas/spring break? xmas is pricey but i've seen AP rates in the spring.

Have you considered banking your points for next year or renting them? Considering that the CR is over $500 night as are many of the other disney deluxe resorts (non pin code or general code other than AAA) the rack rates @ Universal are a veritable bargin.:sad2: I had sticker shock until i pulled out res info from last year & realized that the rates aren't that much different for dates i priced this year (except i haven't seen any AAA rates for end of July or early October:confused3). I'm still annoyed re the blackout dates for platinum suite upgrades, but it's a supply & demand business & mr potter is evidently filling up the resort.

I'll renew 1 U AP to grab the rate i need. IMO it may soon be the primary discount and a really smart marketing idea to get folk to buy U APs & return to vs going back to WDW next trip.

if you are staying 3 nights or more, you are eligible for the stay more, save more promo.

i had booked with the ap rate for oct 3-11th and changed it to the SM, SM as i am saving more that way.

that promo is for the general public, no special cards needed to obtain that rate.

the last night for oct ap rates is thru oct 6th.

so i'm told, would love to see that change for the 7th

do you think there's any chance they may add it to the AP discount days?

I am well aware of the fine print, I've been a passholder for quite a few years. I'm not upset, just disappointed. Surely you understand that it is frustrating to see rates of $154 in early June and $139 in August, when most of June and July have the lowest rate at $269? It kind of feels like I'm making up the difference between those AP rates during the rest of the year and the rack rates.

As I posted, I'm glad UO is getting the business it deserves, but it appears I may not be able to afford it anymore. And keeping an AP is pointless for me if there's no AP rates available. My vacation dollars only go so far, and if I can get more for my money by just staying at WDW (using my DVC points) then I will. I will miss UO, but that's the breaks I guess.
