A.P Fingerscan ?

Do children have to scan their fingers for an Annual Pass? My children are 5 and 4. Last year we had the american hero passes and only I had to scan. I was wondering if an Annual Pass is the same.

Children do not have to scan although many have a desire to.

Not until they are 10, then they get an Adult AP, and will need to do the Finger Scan.

Children don't do the finger scan because their fingers are still growing and their biometerics would change frequently, thereby forcing them to reissue the card repeatedly.

The biometrics can be reset by the CM at the turnstile any time it is needed. Reissuing of the AP is not required for that.

There are three main reasons why they don't require finger scans of Guest 3-9 AP's. First is the inability of most children under age 10 to be able to hold their fingers steady long enough to be read properly in the finger scanners. Second, most children that young do not have the finger length needed for accurate scans. And finally, many of the younger children cannot reach the scanners located atop the turnstile unaided. Having the adult pick up and hold the child in the awkward frontal position that would be necessary to complete a finger scan is an invitation to accidents.

Just wanted to verify everything that Goldenoldie said.

I had a guy yesterday who was convinced that there was something wrong with his card, and that it would have to be replaced. Turns out he was using the wrong hand... If there had been a problem with his AP rather than his fingers (or possibly his mind?) the stile would have just spit it out and displayed a bright orange ? .

You are welcome. Your idea of the growing fingers is actually quite a common misconception shared by many people. Kind of an urban legend of it's own.
